Irap Wins Ohio Derby at Thistledown

Jack Thistledown Racino in North Randall, Ohio played host to the $500,000 G3 Ohio Derby on Saturday, June 24. Three year olds took to Thistledown's dirt track and raced 1 1/8 miles. It was 5-2 second betting choice Irap that posted his second graded stakes score in three starts with a nice win and a strong bounce back off an eighteenth-place finish in the Kentucky Derby. Fellow graded stakes winner and 4-5 favorite Girvin was caught in the final strides and settled for second while Untrapped, another Kentucky Derby alum finished third at 5-1 odds. Sorry Erik was fourth with Game Over, Hinton, Talk Less, Vibe and Fast and Accurate rounding out of the order of finish.
