Melmich Wins Dominion Day Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack

Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario played host to the $150,000 Grade 3 Dominion Day Stakes on Canada Day July 1 - a 1 1/4 mile All Weather Track test for horses three years old and upward. Stephen Chesney and Cory Hoffman's 2-1 co-favorite Melmich came from last and emerged victorious in the field of just five - by 1 1/2 lengths. 9-2 shot Breaking Lucky came in second, 1 3/4 lengths ahead of third place finisher Scuba who was the longest shot in the field at 6-1. War Dancer was next followed by the other 2-1 favorite Red Rifle who completed the order of finish.
