Conquest Panthera Wins Play the King Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack

Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario was the scene of the $175,000 G2 Play the King Stakes on Saturday, August 19. Horses three years old and upward were featured when they took to Woodbine's turf track and raced seven furlongs. 5-year-old gelding by Kitten's Joy, 8-1 shot Conquest Panthera proved to be best on the day - recording his first ever graded stakes score in what was a pretty good finish. Dowse's Beach finished a close second at 3-1 odds in the field of seven with Glenville Gardens getting in for third at 9-1. Roger Attfield's race favorite Tower of Texas was fourth with Tombelaine, Hootenanny and Calgary Cat completing the order of finish. Unfortunately, Calgary Cat, the 2014 Canadian champion sprinter collapsed and died after the race. We Deer You scratched.
