Las Vegas, NV - The richest race for two year olds on North American soil - the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Grey Goose Juvenile takes place this Saturday, November 3 from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. The best two year old males in the land will race 1 1/16 miles on Santa Anita's main track for their share of the $2 million purse.
A field of nine possible Triple Crown contenders will line up in race 8 on Santa Anita's Saturday card. Post time is 2:36 PM. Let's take a look at the credentials of all nine combatants for this intriguing Grade 1 event.
Shanghai Bobby - has four career stars and four wins for trainer Todd Pletcher. Last time out was an impressive win in the Grade 1 Foxwoods Champaign by five lengths to follow a 3 3/4 length score in the Grade 2 Three Chimneys Hopeful Stakes, a maiden win on April 19 at Aqueduct and an impressive win in the Track Barron Stakes at Belmont Park on June 27. Shanghai Bobby looks good, is the morning line favorite and will likely be a factor Saturday.
Power Broker - Bob Baffert trained colt is coming off an impressive score in the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes by 6 1/2 lengths here September 29 after a good second in the Oak Tree Juvenile September 5. He started his career with a fourth and a third but appears to be peaking at just the right time ahead of the Breeders' Cup.
Fortify - won his debut at Saratoga by 4 1/2 lengths on August 4 and followed that with a second to Shanghai Bobby in the Three Chimneys after getting bumped at the start. Last time out was a decent third in the Grade 1 Foxwoods Champaign for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin.
Title Contender - has just two career starts for trainer Bob Baffert but is coming off a Maiden Special Weight score last time out here September 29. His other result was a second at Del Mar July 28.
Speak Logistics - started his career with a fourth place finish but has won his other two starts - a Maiden Special Weight at Monmouth August 18 and the Florida Stallion In Reality Stakes last time out at Calder. Two straight wins has Speak Logistic on the radar for the Breeders' Cup.
Dynamic Sky - has three career starts - two stakes races at Woodbine resulted in a win in the Simcoe Stakes September 3 and a third in his debut at the Vandal Stakes in July. Last time out was a very nice second in the Grade 1 Dixiana Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland October 6.
Monument - has four starts for trainer John Sadler with three wins but has yet to line up in a graded stakes races. Last time out was a win in the Bob Benoit California Cup Juvenile to follow a second in the C. B. Afferbaugh Stakes September 12.
Capo Bastone - John Sadler colt won his career debut on August 4 but has not quite looked the same in his last two starts - a fourth in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity was followed by a good third behind Power Broker last time out in the Grade 1 FrontRunner here September 29.
He's Had Enough - comes from the same team camp as I'll Have Another. He won a Maiden Special Weight in his debut August 12 but followed that with a disappointing sixth in the Oak Tree Juvenile Turf Stakes at Del Mar September 5. Last time out was an ugly eleventh in the Grade 1 Dixiana Breeders' Futurity - not a good sign for this week's marquee stage.
