Las Vegas, NV - The 62nd running of the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante Stakes is on tap for this Saturday September 1. Two year old fillies will dash seven furlongs on Del Mar's all weather track in search of their share of the $300,000 purse.
The Debutante has attracted a field of nine female juveniles for race 9 on Del Mar's Saturday card. Post time is 6:00 PM. Here is a look at the nine entries and their recent performances ahead of this Grade 1 race.
Executiveprivilege - Bob Baffert trained filly is undefeated in three career starts and is the overwhelming favorite for the Debutante. Executiveprivilege broke maiden with a four and a half length win in a five and a half furlong Maiden Special Weight race at Hollywood Park on June 28 and followed that result with an impressive three and a quarter length win in the Landaluce Stakes. Last time out she continued her strong surge winning the Grade 3 Sorrento Stakes here for her third win in three career starts. She is an early favorite for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and appears to be the class of the Debutante field.
Heir Kitty - Peter Miller trained filly could give Executiveprivilege a run. She was very impressive in her debut and finished second last time out in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes here on August 5.
Miss Empire - This Pete Miller trained filly has four career starts - after a poor debut - a fourth in a Maiden Special Weight, she went on to win the Cinderella Stakes on June 16 by over four lengths, finish third in the Landaluce Stakes on July 14 and was a respectable third last time out in the Grade 2 Best Pal behind Heir Kitty.
Speedinthruthecity - yet another Peter Miller trained filly finished second last time out to Executiveprivilege in the Grade 3 Sorrento Stakes and did exactly the same in the Landaluce Stakes after a maiden win in her debut. Speedinthruthecity is a threat in the Debutante but like the other entries will be chasing Executiveprivilege.
Mechaya - was a very impressive maiden winner in her only career start here on August 10 for trainer John Sadler and could make a name for herself with another good performance.
Renee's Titan - broke maiden in her first career race at Hollywood Park on June 21 for trainer Doug O'Neil and finished fourth most recently in the competitive Grade 3 Sorrento Stakes on this track.
Pat's Back - was a maiden winner here last time out in her second career start after a respectable third in her first career race - a Maiden Claiming at Hollywood Park on June 21.
Beholder - broke maiden last time out on this track on July 22 to follow a pedestrian fourth in her career debut at Hollywood Park on June 28.
Wasted at Midnight - has one career start - a fifth on this track in a Maiden Special Weight on August 5. Wasted at Midnight figures to be a huge long shot in this race.
