2012 Cliff Hanger Stakes Race Favorites

Get Serious - Get Serious had been OK recently - a decent third in the Grade 2 Monmouth Stakes followed a trio of sixth place finishes - last year's Cliff Hanger and a pair of minor stakes races. But a win in the Grade 3 Red Bank Stakes here on July 4 has put Get Serious back on the radar. She had an incredible streak of seven wins in nine starts in 2009/2010 so we know Get Serious can get it done. He loves the firm ground and that's what is expected Saturday.

Upgrade - made a graded stakes debut with a fifth in the Grade 3 Fort Macy Stakes on May 5 at Belmont Park and followed that with a very impressive win in the Grade 3 Jaipur Stakes on that same track. Last time out was a fifth in the Grade 2 Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga. Upgrade has two wins in four starts this year and could be a sneaky factor on Saturday.

Cliff Hanger Stakes 2012 | Remaining Field Entries

Admiral Perry - made her graded stakes debut with a fourth last time out in the Grade 2 Oceanport here on July 29 after six Allowance Optional Claiming races in 2012 yielded one win, one second, two thirds, a fifth and an eighth place finish.

Lentenor - has raced four times in 2012 with a win last time out in the Kitten's Joy Stakes being the best result. Lentenor started the season with a fifth in the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Stakes and followed that with a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming May 19 before a disappointing fifth in the Da Hoss Stakes at Colonial Downs on June 16. Lentenor has four wins in 16 career starts and has at least placed in 10 of those.

Tune Me In - came out of nowhere and won the Grade 3 Oceanport here on July 29 after placing in just one of her previous five starts, that being a third at the John McSorely Stakes here on June 10. She made good in her first graded stakes appearance last time out and will be looking to make it two in a row.

Salto - will make just his second start of 2012 and his third start in North America after a so-so career in Europe. Salto's North American debut resulted in a fifth in the Grade 3 Commonwealth Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs in November and his only result this year was a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Saratoga on July 20.

Glass Art - will be making her stakes debut on Sunday but is coming off two straight Allowance scores on this track. Glass Art has four wins in 11 career starts but makes a huge leap up in competition for the Cliff Hanger.
