Las Vegas, NV - Saratoga will be the scene of the Grade 1 Personal Ensign Stakes this Sunday August 26. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will be featured as they go one and one eighth miles on Saratoga's dirt track for a healthy purse of $600,000.
The Personal Ensign has drawn a small but quality field of six females for race 10 on Saratoga's Sunday card. Post time is 5:56 PM. Let's take a look at the past performances of these six ahead of this lucrative Grade 1 event.
Royal Delta - has looked exceptional of late - two straight wins including the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap last time out and the Grade 2 Fleur de Lis Handicap on June 16 at Churchill Downs after a less-than-scintillating ninth in Dubai before that. Royal Delta proved that she is a horse to contend with in November with a win in the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic to end a 2011 campaign that included wins in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes and Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes. Bill Mott trained Royal Delta is the morning line favorite and rightfully so.
It's Tricky - Has finished first or second in each of her last eight starts and in 11 of 12 career starts - eight wins and three seconds including three straight graded stakes wins - the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps last time out, the Grade 2 Distaff Handicap on April 14 and the Grade 2 Top Flight Handicap in March. Another impressive result is a second in the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic in November. It's Tricky is a classy filly that should give Royal Delta a stern test on Sunday. She is cross-entered in Friday's Ballerina Stakes - no decision has been made as to which race It's Tricky will start.
Brushed by a Star - has also been impressive lately - three straight wins ahead of the Personal Ensign including last time out in the Grade 2 Molly Pitcher at Monmouth, the Iowa Distaff Stakes on June 29 and another win at an Allowance at Churchill Downs on June 10. Her only other start of 2012 was a second in an Allowance also at Churchill Downs. In 16 career starts Brushed by a Star has five wins, four seconds and two third place finishes but it is clear that she is in the best form of her career at the moment. Watch out for Brushed by a Star this Sunday!

R Gypsy Gold - Todd Pletcher trained filly has won three of her last six starts including the Endear Stakes at Belmont on July 4 and the Real Prize Stakes in October. Last time out was a decent third behind the likes of Brushed by a Star in the Molly Pitcher. R Gypsy Gold has four wins, two seconds and four third place finishes in 13 career starts.
Tiz Miz Sue - has placed in her last six starts with a win in the Grade 3 Azeri Stakes at Oaklawn in March and four runner-up performances including her last two starts - the Grade 3 Obeah Stakes on June 16 and the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap last time out on July 21. She has been close all year and may be ready for a breakthrough this Sunday.
Love and Pride - is the other Todd Pletcher filly entered and has raced six times in 2012 - five graded stakes races. Last time out was a somewhat disappointing fourth in the Delaware Handicap to follow a terrific win in the Grade 3 Obeah Stakes here on June 16. Before that was a decent second in the Grade 3 Allaire DuPont Distaff Stakes at Pimlico on May 19. She also had a fourth in the Grade 3 Sixty Sails Handicap at Hawthorne and a respectable second at the Grade 2 Top Flight Handicap at Aqueduct this year. Love and Pride has five wins, two seconds and four third place finishes in 14 career starts and is another solid contender based on recent form.
