Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Ohio Derby comes our way from Thistledown in suburban Cleveland this Saturday, July 7th. Horses three years old will race 1 1/16 miles in search of their share of the $100,000 purse.

A small but quality group of five has been assembled for race eight on Thistledown's Saturday card. Post time is 5:32 PM. Here is a look at the past performances of the five entries and what we can expect on Saturday.

2012 Ohio Derby Race Favorites

Prospective - won the minor Victoria Park Stakes at Woodbine last time out on June 10th to follow a disappointing 18th in the Kentucky Derby. Before that he finished sixth in the Blue Grass Stakes on April 4th. Before that he won two of three races - the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby and the Pasco Stakes with a second place finish in between in the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis Stakes on February 4th. After a couple of unflattering results, Prospective's most recent result has him back on the radar for the Ohio Derby.

Politicallycorrect - two time winner most recently looked good in finishing third behind Teeth of the Dog in the Easy Goer Stakes at Belmont on June 9th to follow up a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Churchill Downs on May 5th. In April Politicallycorrect was a disappointing 12th in the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes after a good win in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream in February. His only other start was a seventh in the Gulfstream Park Derby. Based on his result in the Easy Goer, Politicallycorrect is near the top of the list for the Ohio Derby.

Z Rockstar - has raced six times in 2012 with a win in an Allowance at Oaklawn Park on March 16th being his best result. Most recently was a third in the minor Prairie Mile Stakes and before that was a 10th in the Grade 3 Illinois Derby.

Defiant Flyer - will be making his graded stakes debut after mixed results in minor stakes action. Defiant Flyer started 2012 with a win in the Jim's Orbit Stakes at Sam Houston but has an eighth, a fourth and most recently a seventh in the Prairie Mile Stakes this year.

Swage - has just three career starts but has won his last two - an Allowance last time out at Prairie Meadows on June 17th and a Maiden Special Weight on that same track on May 11th.
