Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Go for Wand Handicap is on tap for Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, New York this Friday, November 29. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will take to Aqueduct's main track and go one mile for a purse of $300,000.
A field of eight older females will line up in the Go for Wand - race 9 on Aqueduct's Friday card. Post time is 3:49 PM. Here is a brief glance into the past performances of all eight entries for this Grade 2 stakes.
Executiveprivilege - Bob Baffert trained filly was undefeated in five career starts prior to a second place finish in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies behind Beholder. The wins include an impressive three and a quarter length win in the Landaluce Stakes in July 2012 and three straight Grade 1 stakes wins - the Grade 3 Sorrento, the Grade 1 Debutante and the Grade 1 Chandelier Stakes in September 2012 before the Breeders' Cup. Executiveprivilege raced one more time in 2012 - a fourth in the Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet before nearly eight months away. She returned to action July 18 to a second in an Allowance and was fourth last time out in the minor L.A. Woman Stakes at Santa Anita October 5. She was one of the best in the land before injury and will be looking to get back to that form this Friday with Jose Lezcano in the saddle from the outside post.
Centring - has 14 career starts for trainer Thomas Albertini with two wins, five seconds and three third place finishes - zero stakes wins however. Her first stakes action came last November - a fifth in the Grade 3 La Prevoyante Handicap at Calder. Since then she has looked good - a second last time out in the Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm Stakes October 26 after a good third behind the impressive Princess of Sylmar and Royal Delta in the Grade 1 Beldame here September 28, another good third in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign behind Royal Delta, a fourth in the Grade 1 Delaware Handicap July 20, and a respectable third in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Handicap at Belmont Park May 27. She also raced to a second to Disposablepleasure March 17. Centring has placed in four of her last five graded stakes starts and will be looking for her first win in graded stakes company Friday. Centring will be ridden by Rajiv Maragh from the 3 post.
Fantasy of Flight - had finished second in three straight graded stakes races - the Grade 2 Bed o' Roses June 15, the Grade 2 Vagrancy May 18 and the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie in February before a seventh in the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga August 23 and an OK third last time out in the Grade 3 Turnback the Alarm Stakes October 26. She has yet to record a victory so far in 2013 but has finished second and incredible five times. Fantasy of Flight has just three wins in 17 career starts with eight seconds and two third place finishes. She has yet to break through in graded stakes action but has been close more than her share of times.
Willet - has 13 career starts for trainer James Iselin and has been impressive. She has six wins, five seconds and a third place finish. She finished second in last year's edition of this race but went on to a disappointing fifth in the Grade 3 Bed o' Roses Handicap in June. Since then she has four minor stakes starts with two wins and two second place finishes. She is used to being near the front and should be competitive Friday as well.
My Pal Chrisy - Martin Wolfson trained mare enters the Go for Wand on a three race win streak including the Millions Distaff Preview Stakes last time out November 9, the minor Musical Romance Stakes and the Pasadena Stakes - all results at Gulfstream.
