Anjaz - had seven starts in Britain with three wins and a third place finish before making her North American debut- a fourth in the Grade 3 Orchid Stakes at Gulfstream March 30. Since then Anjaz had an impressive second ahead of Minakashi and behind Tannery in the Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes at Belmont Park May 25, she was a disappointing seventh in the Grade 2 New York Stakes and finished a good second last time out at this distance in the listed Waya Stakes at Saratoga August 5. Anjaz looks for her first North American win, is the 118 pound co-highweight and 5-2 morning line favorite and departs from post 2 with Javier Castellano in the saddle.

Strathnaver - H. Graham Motion pupil makes her fifth start on North American soil after two wins and a second place finish in nine starts in Britain. Her American debut was a good one - an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Gulfstream March 16 in record time for 1 3/16 miles on turf and she followed that with another impressive score in the Grade 3 Bewitch Stakes at 18-1 odds at Keeneland April 25. She struggled in two starts after that - a seventh in the Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes at Belmont Park in May and an eighth in the Grade 3 Modesty Handicap at Arlington Park in July. Last time she bounced back with as nice win in the minor Lady Baltimore Stakes at Laurel Park September 21. Strathnaver is the lone graded stakes winner in the field, has won 3 of 5 starts in North America and will have Rajiv Maragh in the reins from post 6 as the 3-1 second choice on the morning line.
