Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Humana Distaff comes our way this Saturday, May 4 from a very busy Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Fillies and mares four years old and upward will take to the track and dash seven furlongs on Churchill Downs's main track for a purse of $300,000.

2013 Humana Distaff Race Favorites

Rumor - is a multiple stakes winner that has won six of 14 starts and placed in all but three. She finished a decent third in August in the Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo and won the minor L.A Woman Stakes here October 7 before a fifth in the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint ended her 2012 campaign. She started 2013 with a disappointing seventh in the minor Wishing Well Stakes at Santa Anita February 10 but bounced back with a terrific win last time out in the Grade 3 Las Flores Stakes March 10 She is the morning line favorite and enters in good form off her win last time out.

Aubby K - has seven career starts with three wins and a third place finish. Her graded stakes action has resulted in a reasonable fourth in the Grade 2 Pocahontas Stakes at Churchill Downs in October, a decent third in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont on May 28, an OK fourth in the Grade 2 Delaware Oaks and an eighth in the Grade 1 Test Stakes at Saratoga way back on August 25. After nearly seven months away she returned to the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream March 17 and won in impressive fashion. She may not have been on the radar before March but her win in the Inside Information has opened a few eyes.

Jamaican Smoke - has six career starts with two wins - an Allowance at Churchill Downs on May 25 followed a Maiden Special Weight score at Keeneland on April 19. She was a very impressive second in the Grade 3 Victory Ride Stakes at Churchill Downs in July and then endured an eight month layoff. He returned March 8 to a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Gulfstream March 8 and was a good third last time out in the Grade 1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland April 13.

Byrama - was decent in 2012 with three wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 10 starts. She was an OK third as favorite in the Grade 3 Ken Maddy Stakes October 20 behind Broken Dreams and Kindle to follow a win in the minor Unzip Me Stakes September 29. She has four starts in 2013 - a good second last time out just ahead of Jamaican Smoke in the Grade 1 Madison Stakes at Keeneland April 13 after an OK third in the Grade 2 Buena Vista Stakes at Santa Anita, another third as favorite in the minor Wishing Well Stakes February 10 and a disappointing fourth in the competitive Grade 2 Monrovia Stakes January 6. Byrama has placed in six of her last seven starts but has just one minor stakes score to show for it

Emma's Encore - had victories in two straight last summer - the Grade 3 Victory Ride Stakes at Churchill Downs on July 7 at 38-1 odds and at the Grade 1 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga on August 4. Next were another couple of poor results - a sixth in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom was followed by an eighth in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes at Keeneland October 6. She was a disappointing fifth in the Grade 3 Hurricane Bertie February 10 after a second behind Golden Mystery January 19 in the Florida Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Sprint. Last time out was an OK third in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream March 17.

Same Cross - J. Larry Jones trained filly makes just her fifth career start and her first graded stakes start. She won her first three career races all at fair Grounds but was fifth last time out when she stepped into stakes company at the minor Happy Ticket Stakes March 16 also at Fair Grounds.

Burban - won three of her first four starts but finished a disappointing sixth in her graded stakes debut - two back in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream March 17. Last time out was a nice win in the minor Break Through Stakes at Aqueduct April 4.

Holiday Soiree - finished a respectable fourth in her graded stakes debut in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont to end her 2011 campaign and has been at or near the top in eight starts since - two Allowance Optional Claiming scores and four second place finishes including the last two starts - the minor Safely Kept Stakes at Laurel Park in November and the Sugar Maple Stakes at Charles Town April 20. She also had a pair of fourths in graded stakes action in 2012 - the Grade 2 Indiana Oaks in October and the Grade 3 Gardenia in August.

There Is No Limit - Doug O'Neill trained mare has 22 career starts but races in stakes company for the first time Saturday. She enters the Human having won four of her last five starts however - two Claiming and two Allowance races with a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming sandwiched in there.
