Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 All American Stakes comes our way from Golden Gate Fields in Berkeley, California this Monday, May 27. Horses three years old and upward will be after the winner's share of the $100,000 purse when they race 1 1/16 miles on Hollywood Park's synthetic track.
The All American Stakes has attracted a field of eight for race 7 on Golden gate's Holiday Monday card. Post time is 4:15 PM. Let's take a brief look into the past performances of all eight entries for this Grade 3 stakes.
Tres Borrachos - has placed in four of his last five outings - a third last time out in the minor Santana Mile Stake March 21 behind Liaison and Midnight Transfer, an Allowance score (he recorded a Beyer Speed Figure of over 100 in both of those starts), a second in an Allowance December 1 to Jaycito and a second in the minor Big Bear Handicap October 21. He has failed to place in his last five graded stakes however - results include a fourth January 5 in the Grade 2 San Pasqual. Tres Borrachos has raced 35 stakes races all over the map with OK results - now he brings his show to Golden Gate Fields.
Summer Hit - made his graded stakes debut for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer last time out and finished a very good second in the Grade 3 San Francisco Mile April 27 having win six of nine career starts with a second and two third place finishes. He won four of five ahead of the San Francisco Mile including the minor Silky Sullivan Stakes last June and an Allowance by 3 1/4 lengths March 31 at Santa Anita. Summer Hit has been in the money every time out and proved last time out that graded stakes company doesn't scare him at all!
Control Seeker - raced to a seventh last time out in the Grade 3 San Francisco Mile after an Allowance Optional Claiming score over Hudson Landing April 6 and a fifth in an Allowance March 15. He looked terrific at the end of 2012 with three straight wins including the minor Bull Dog Handicap at Fresno in October and a very good second in November in the Grade 3 All American Stakes at Golden Gate. He looks to regain that form Monday for trainer Keith Nations.
Ashtar - Chilean bred Ashtar recently returned from 15 months away with a sixth in an Allowance Optional Claiming here May 2. Prior to the layoff he raced to three straight fourth place finishes in graded stakes action and ended with a fifth in the Grade 2 San Marcos February 11, 2012 before being shelved. He was OK before his absence and did nothing in his return to think he'll be anything more than OK this Monday.
Hudson Landing - won the Grade 3 All American Stakes at Golden Gate in November for his best result since the San Francisco Mile score last April. This year he has a pair of third place finishes - an Allowance Optional Claiming April 6 here behind Control Seeker who is also entered in the All American and in an Allowance also at Golden Gate March 15. Last time out was a disappointing sixth in the Grade 3 San Francisco Mile at Golden Gate April 27.
Positive Response - has two Allowance scores in his last four starts overall and is coming off an OK second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Golden Gate April 6. He finished fourth in the competitive All American Stakes at Golden Gate in November - his last graded stakes action. Positive Response has seven wins, four seconds and two third place finishes in 21 career starts.
Siberian Laughter - races in stakes company for the first time Monday after 18 starts produced five wins, five seconds and four third place finishes. He enters having won two of his last three starts however - both Allowance Optional Claiming races on this track - one coming April 26 and the other coming back in January.
Administer - had a couple of wins in Allowance races on this track in November but hasn't tasted victory since. He finished fourth and fifth respectively in minor stakes action at Turf Paradise this winter and returned to Golden Gate April 26 with a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming.
