Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 General George Handicap comes our way from Laurel Park this President's Day, Monday, February 18. Horses three years old and upward will be front and center as they dash seven furlongs on Laurel Park's dirt track in search of their share of the $250,000 purse.
A field of eight will line up in the General George Handicap. It is race 9 on Laurel Park's President's Day Monday card with a post time of 4:24 PM. Here is a look at the past performances of all eight contestants for this Grade 3 Handicap.
Brigand - Bob Baffert trained colt has five wins and five second place finishes in 13 career starts and enters the General George having won four of his last five starts - the minor Turn of the Century Stakes last time out at Aqueduct January 20 and the City of Laurel Stakes here December 8 being his most impressive results. He will be after his third straight stakes score - his first of the graded variety and is the morning line favorite for Monday's race.
Il Villano - Has 13 career starts with five wins, four seconds and two third place finishes. He is coming off a nice win in the minor Dave's Friend Stakes here December 29 after a fourth in the Fabulous Strike Handicap in November and a second in the Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash here in October. In 2012 he placed in seven of nine stakes races - the graded stakes results included seconds in the Grade 3 Hutcheson February 11 and the Grade 3 Woody Stevens June 8. Il Villano has been off the graded stakes circuit since June but has been at or near the top in every race the last year.
Associate - finished third in the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes to end 2011 but mainly focused on Allowance races in 2012 placing in all four before a nice third in the Grade 3 Bold Ruler Handicap at Belmont Park October 27. Last time out was a disappointing seventh in the Grade 3 Hal's Hope Stakes at Gulfstream January 13. In the four Allowances starts in 2012 he had two wins, a second and a third place finish before stepping and finishing a good third in the Bold Ruler. He will be looking to rebound from that ugly seventh last time out.
Isn't He Perfect - had 13 nine starts in 2012 and placed in his last four - all minor stakes action. A good second in the Evening Attire Stakes behind Last Gunfighter started his 2013 campaign here January 19 after a pair of thirds at Aqueduct in December. Last time out was a disappointing fifth in the Grade 3 Toboggan Stakes at Aqueduct February 2. Isn't He Perfect has five wins, seven seconds and five third place finishes in 33 career starts but has been in the money in 11 of his last 13 races. He enters the Toboggan in OK form despite a letdown last time out.
