2013 Pegasus Stakes Race Favorites
Verrazano - Todd Pletcher's trained colt has just one bad start and that happened to come on the biggest stage - a fourteenth place finish last time out as one of the favorites in the Kentucky Derby. He made his stakes debut with an impressive score with 101 Beyer Speed Figure in the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby March 9 after two starts and two more wins - an impressive Allowance Optional Claiming by 16 3/4 lengths at Gulfstream February 2 with a Beyer Speed figure of 105 and a MSW score by 7 3/4 lengths in his debut January 1 also at Gulfstream. He also won the Grade 1 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct April 6 in the leadup to the Derby. He has won four of five career starts and will be looking to rebound from his lone poor performance in the Derby. He starts from the rail as the likely morning line favorite.

He also had a second behind Orb in the Florida Derby which followed a win over Shanghai Bobby by two lengths in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes January 26. But he wasn't good in the Kentucky Derby - a fifteenth place finish took some luster off this colt. Trainer Eddie Plesa has an impressive speedster on his hands despite - two wins and two seconds in five starts this year and five wins in 12 career starts.
