2013 Cotillion Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Sweet Lulu - Jerry Hollendorfer trained filly has four starts in her career but has won them all - last time out in the Grade 1 Test Stakes over Wildcat Lily and My Happy Face, an Allowance Optional Claiming at Del Mar, an Allowance score at Hollywood Park in June and a MSW win at Hollywood Park in May. She may be lightly raced but has looked stellar every time out. She expects to be competitive again Saturday despite the fact that she stretches out beyond one mile for the first time in the Cotillion.

Close Hatches - Bill Mott trainee made her stakes debut and recorded a terrific win over the stellar Princess of Sylmar in the Grade 2 Gazelle Stakes by 3 1/4 lengths at Aqueduct April 6 after two prior starts resulted in two wins - an Allowance Optional Claiming in wire-to-wire fashion by 1 1/4 lengths at Gulfstream March 10 and a MSW score January 26 also at Gulfstream. Last time out she returned to the winner's circle with a 7 1/4 length score in the Grade 1 Mother Goose at this distance at Belmont Park way back in June after a decent second, 8 1/4 lengths behind Midnight Lucky in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park May 27 and a very disappointing seventh in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks May 3. She will carry the top eight on Saturday and should be right in the mix as always.

Cotillion Stakes 2013 | Remaining Contenders

Dancing Afleet - Timothy Ritchey pupil enters having win three straight races all at Delaware Park - the Grade 2 Delaware Oaks last time out in her stakes debut being her best, an Allowance Optional Claiming June 24 and a MSW June 13. Her other two career results were a third in a MSW and a fourth in her debut in a MSW at Oaklawn Park in April. She is one of many peaking at the right time ahead of the Cotillion.

My Happy Face - Chad Brown trained filly had alternated runner-up finishes and wins in her first seven career starts before a third last time out in the Grade 1 Test Stakes at Saratoga August 24. She started her career with two MSW races and finished second and first by 21 1/4 lengths respectively before graduating to stakes action. She was second in the Grade 1 Frizette behind Dreaming of Julia in October, she won the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes in November, she finished second in the Grade 2 Forward Gal behind Kauai Katie in January and won the minor Lotka Stakes at Belmont Park after nearly five months away. Then was a second in the Grade 1 American Oaks on this track July 20. She has been at or near the top in every career start but looks for her first Grade 1 score Saturday.

Seaneen Girl - won the Grade 2 Golden Rod Stakes back in November after a second in the Grade 3 Mazarine Stakes at Woodbine in October. She had an OK third in the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks March 30 after a four month layoff and followed that with an ugly ninth in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks. She has raced four straight Grade 3 stakes ahead of this weekend - a seventh in the Regret Stakes at Churchill Downs June 15, a good second in the Iowa Oaks June 29, a sixth in the Arlington Oaks and a terrific win last time out in the Monmouth Oaks August 10 - her only win in seven starts this year. Seaneen Girl has been somewhat unflattering this year but could be peaking ahead of the Cotillion.

Flash Forward - has 10 career starts with three wins and two second place finishes. Her last three starts have been good - a win last time out in the minor My Flag Stakes at Saratoga August 28 followed a pair of seconds in minor stakes races - the Broom Dance Stakes and the Open Mind Stakes in June. Her last graded stakes action came in March - an eighth in the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes at Oaklawn Park. She starts from the rail in decent form.

Carnival Court - has four career starts for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin including a very respectable third last time out in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga August 17 in her stakes debut. Before that was an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Belmont Park July 78 after breaking maiden by 12 3/4 lengths May 31 also on that track.

Promise Me More - Steve Asmussen trained filly has two wins in seven career starts and had a good second in her graded stakes debut back in February - the Grade 3 Rachel Alexandra Stakes at Fair Grounds but has failed to place in two starts since - a fourth in the minor Riskaverse Stakes last time out at Saratoga followed a fourth in the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks in March.

Street Girl - made her graded stakes debut with a fifth in the Grade 3 Azalea Stakes at Calder July 6 and followed that with a fourth last time out in the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes at Saratoga August 23. Her best career result came in April - a nice win in the minor Calder Oaks which was followed by a sixth in an Allowance and a third in the minor Leave Me Alone Stakes June 8. Street Girl has 12 career starts (11 already this year) with just two wins, two seconds and a third place finish.

Asiya - Kiaran McLaughlin trained filly races in graded stakes company for the first time Saturday but did have a respectable second in January in the minor Busanda Stakes at Aqueduct. Her only other start this year - an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Saratoga August 14. Asiya has place in all four career starts - two wins, a second and a third place finish.
