Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Ontario Matron Stakes goes down at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario this Saturday, July 20. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will be after the winner's portion of the $150,000 purse when they go 1 1/16 miles on Woodbine's All Weather Track.

The Ontario Matron Stakes has attracted a field of seven females to go in race 8 on Woodbine's Saturday card. Post time is 4:28 PM. Let's take a look into the credentials of all seven entries for this Grade 3 stakes.

2013 Ontario Matron Stakes Race Favorites

Sisterly Love - has seven career starts for trainer Mark Casse - two Allowance scores at Gulfstream and a MSW win at Calder October 27 were followed by an OK third in her stakes debut - the Houston Ladies Classic Stakes behind Joyful Victory January 26. She went on to a fifth in the Grade 2 Top Flight Handicap in March and a disappointing eighth as 2-1 favorite in the Grade 3 Whimsical Stakes on this track in April but bounced back last time out with a nice 8 1/2 length win in the minor Trillium Stakes on this track June 8. She won her first stakes races last time out and looks good to record her first graded stakes score Saturday.

Eagle Hall - another Mark Casse trained mare will race in stakes company for the first time Saturday after 26 career starts yielded six wins, five seconds and five third place finishes. She is coming off two straight Allowance Optional Claiming scores on this track and won two other Allowance Optional Claiming races here in November. Although not stepping up yet in stakes company she has won four straight races on this track.

Layali Dubai - has just one race in North America - a nice Allowance Optional Claiming score by five lengths at the Matron distance at Arlington Park June 19 after a disappointing ninth and a seventh at Meydan. Before that was four straight wins in Britain - all in October and November 2012 on synthetic surfaces. She was a synthetic track specialist in Britain and could sneak in for victory based on her impressive North American debut last time out.

Yellow Boat - Mark Frostad trained filly makes just her sixth career start Saturday and is coming off a fourth in her stakes debut - the minor Sweet Briar Too Stakes here July 6. Before that she alternated wins and second place finishes culminating in an Allowance score here May 31. She has had injury issues in the past but has looked OK since returning from her latest layoff.

Welcome Dance - Michael Matz trained filly is a two time stakes winner that last won the minor Christina Stakes at Delaware Park in September but has just two starts since resulting in a pair of sevenths - last time out in the Grade 3 All Along Stakes June 22 after an eight month layoff and the Grade 3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes at Keeneland way back in October. She has 11 career starts with four wins, a second and a third place finish but hasn't looked great in her last two starts. She tries synthetic surfaces for the first time Saturday.

Logan's Peak - has 16 career starts for trainer Nicholas Gonzalez but races in graded stakes company for the first time Saturday. She did race to a third in the minor Star Shoot Stakes and a sixth in the minor Fury Stakes in April 2012 but has concentrated on Allowance and Claiming races at Woodbine since. She enters this weekend having won two of her last three starts - an Allowance last time out June 2 and a Claiming in December but has a sixth in an Allowance sandwiched in there.

Pure Blue Sky - won two straight Allowance races here in the fall and has raced to a pair of fifths in minor stakes action since - the Maple Leaf Stakes in November and the Trillium Stakes last time out June 8. She won a Starter Allowance here to end her 2012 campaign and raced to an OK third in an Allowance May 18 after nearly six months away.
