2014 Noble Damsel Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Annecdote - British bred Christophe Clement trained filly makes her North American debut Saturday after 13 starts at home yielded five wins, a second and a third place finish - three of those wins coming in stakes action including the Group 3 Netfred TV Oak Tree Stakes last August and the Sandringham Handicap last June. She is coming off her worst career performance however - a tenth at Ascot in June after placing third in a stakes in May. Irad Ortiz has been pegged to ride the tepid 7-2 morning line favorite Saturday from gate 6.

Tokyo Time - Shug McGaughey trained filly enters in a two race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out at Saratoga August 2 followed an Allowance score on this track in June. Her only graded stakes start was a good one - a second place finish in the 2013 Herecomesthebride Stakes in March, 2013 but her only other stakes start was a disappointment - a sixth in the minor Voodoo Dancer Stakes at Gulfstream in January. Tokyo Time looks to keep her roll going and to break through in graded stakes company for the first time with Javier Castellano guiding her from post 5.

Noble Damsel Stakes 2014 | Remaining Contenders

Love Train - Christophe Clement trained filly makes her stakes debut Saturday on the heels of a two race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out July 12 followed an Allowance score in May - both results on this track. She has seven career starts with three wins and a second place finishes and enters in the best form of her career. Love Train will have Joel Rosario in the irons from gate 4 at 6-1 odds.

Devilish Love - Anthony Dutrow trained filly makes her graded stakes debut in good form - three straight wins ahead of this weekend - all at one mile. Last time out was an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Saratoga after an Allowance score on that same track in July and a Starter Allowance score on this track in June. She has placed in six of her last seven start overall - the lone blemish coming last August in the minor Malvern Rose Stakes which happens to be the only time Devilish Love has raced in stakes company. Luis Saez has the mount from gate 3 at 6-1 on the morning line.

Julie's Love - H Graham Motion trained mare has just one start in 2014 - a fifth in the minor Powder Break Stakes at Gulfstream in April after nine months away. She ended 2013 with a fourth in the Grade 2 Matchmaker Stakes July 28, a good second in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes at Woodbine July 7 and a fourth in the Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes on this track in May of last year. Julie's Love has 25 career starts with five wins, eight seconds and four third place finishes but looks for her first win since May, 2013 - in the minor Owsley Stakes on this very track. Jose Ortiz rides from gate 8 at 10-1 on the morning line.

Alaura Michele - Todd Pletcher trained mare has just four wins and three third place finishes in 17 career starts and is coming off her worst performance in a while - a seventh in the minor Fasig-Tipton De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga August 2 after an OK third in the Grade 3 Dr. James Penny Memorial at Parx in July and a third in the minor Intercontinental Stakes at Belmont Park June 8. Her first start this year resulted in an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Gulfstream and the second was a fourth in the minor Ten Palms Stakes on the same track in February. She had been in OK form before last time out and looks for a strong bounce back Saturday. Joe Bravo gets the call from post 2.

Byrama - was decent in 2012 with three wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 10 starts. She had nine starts in 2013 with varying results. The good include a good second in the Grade 1 Madison Stakes April 13, an OK third in the Grade 2 Buena Vista Stakes, another third as favorite in the minor Wishing Well Stakes February 10 and a 3 1/2 length score in the Grade 1 Vanity Handicap at 6-1 odds June 15. Bad results include a fourth in the competitive Grade 2 Monrovia Stakes January 6, a sixth in the Grade 1 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes in October and a seventh in the competitive Grade 1 Pacific Classic. Byrama has four starts this year - an eighth last time out in the minor Intercontinental Stakes here in June followed a third in the Grade 2 Beaugay Stakes on this track in May, a second in the listed Ten Palms Stakes at Gulfstream Park January 23 and a disappointing seventh in the Madison Stakes April 12. She will have John Velazquez in the saddle from the rail Saturday looking to snap out of her funk.

Medea - Irish bred mare had two seconds and a third in three starts at home before shipping to North America where she has three wins, two seconds and two third place finish in nine starts. She is coming off a career worst performance however -a seventh in the Grade 3 Matchmaker Stakes at Monmouth Park July 27 after a nice win in the Grade 3 Eatontown Stakes on that same track in June and a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Pimlico May 24. Medea hopes to regain the form that saw her post an incredible win two back when she leaves from post 7 with Jose Lezcano aboard.

Baffle Me - Mark Hennig trained mare has 23 career starts with seven wins, three seconds and four third place finishes but has failed to place in any of her three starts this year. Last time out was a fourth in the minor Fasig-Tipton De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga August 2 after a pair of sevenths in minor stakes action. She did win two straight minor stakes races to end her 2013 campaign including the Jazzy Stakes on this track in October but Baffle Me hasn't been great since. Rajiv Maragh will be in charge from the outside post as Baffle Me races in graded stakes company for the first time.
