Las Vegas, NV - Del Mar Race Track in the great state of California will be the scene of the Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes on Wednesday, August 6. A group of fillies, two years old will take to Del Mar's All Weather Track and go six and one half furlongs searching for the winner's share of the $200,000 purse.

A talented group of seven have been confirmed for the Sorrento - race 7 on Del Mar's Wednesday schedule. Post time is 5:00 PM. Here is a look into the past performances of all seven entries for this mid-week Grade 2 stakes -a major prep for the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante August 30.

2014 Sorrento Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Sunset Glow - has three career starts for trainer Wesley Ward and is coming off a good second at 7-1 odds in the 21-horse Group 3 Albany Stakes race in Britain - at Ascot June 20. She broke maiden in her second start - at Belmont Park by two lengths as 8-5 favorite in June and had another second in her debut in May. She is the 2-1 morning line favorite Wednesday and will depart from post 2 with Victor Espinoza guiding her in her second career Synthetic track test.

Caval - Jerry Hollendorfer trained filly will race for just the second time in her career off a nice 5 1/2 length win as favorite at first asking in a five furlong MSW at Santa Anita June 19. She lines up from the outside post with Elvis Trujillo aboard as the 5-2 morning line second choice.

La Grange - has one win and one second place finish in two career starts for trainer Kent Desormeaux. Last time out was a very nice 2 3/4 length win in the minor Cinderella Stakes on dirt at Los Alamitos July 13 after a second in a MSW in her debut June 8. Brother Keith Desormeaux gets the mount aboard the 4-1 third choice and 123 pound highweight from gate 6.

Conquest Eclipse - Mark Casse trained filly races for the second time in her career Wednesday off a MSW score at Churchill Downs June 29. Mike Smith gets the call Wednesday from post 3 at 5-1 odds.

Heart of Paradise - another Jerry Hollendorfer pupil is coming off a second as 1-5 favorite in the minor Cinderella Stakes July 13 - behind La Grange in her second career start. This after setting the pace and fading. Her debut was a maiden score June 5 at Santa Anita. Heart of Paradise lines up in post 5 with Joe Talamo in the reins from post 5 at 6-1 odds.

Windy Forecast - Simon Callahan trainee makes her career debut Wednesday from post 4 with Rafael Bejarano in the irons at 8-1 odds.

Sharla Rae - Doug O'Neill trained filly has just one career starts and it was a good one - a maiden score at Los Alamitos July 13. She will start from the rail looking for her first stakes score with Drayden Van Dyke in the saddle of the longest shot in the field - 12/1.
