Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Starlet Stakes comes our way from Los Alamitos Race Course in Los Alamitos, California on Saturday, December 13 - a race formerly held at Hollywood Park. A field of seven will hit the track in the Starlet - race 8 on Los Alamitos Saturday card. Post time is 4:00 PM. Here is a brief glance into the past performances of all seven entries for this Grade 1 stakes - the final Grade 1 test of 2014 for two year old fillies.
Take Charge Brandi - D Wayne Lukas trained filly posted a maiden score at first asking and then went on to a very good second in the Grade 3 Shuylerville Stakes at Saratoga July 18. Last time out Take Charge Brandi continued her meteoric rise winning the $500,000 Grade 3 Delta Downs Princess Stakes by 1 1/2 lengths November 22 - a race that put her into the Eclipse Award conversation. She is simply on fire and off two straight impressive wins in the horse to beat Saturday. Victor Espinoza has the mount from post 6.
Feathered - Todd Pletcher trained filly made her stakes debut October 4 and finished third in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont Park and followed that with another respectable performance last time out - a fourth - one length behind Take Charge Brandi in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.
