Las Vegas, NV - Aqueduct in Queens, New York will be the scene of the Grade 3 Jerome Stakes on Saturday, January 3. A group of three year olds will take to Aqueduct's main track and go one mile, 70 yards searching for the winner's share of the $200,000 purse and the 10 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby in May.

The Jerome Stakes has attracted a field of nine to go in race 8 on Aqueduct's Saturday card. Post time is 3:48 PM. Here is a brief glance into the past performances of all nine entries for this Grade 3 stakes.

2015 Jerome Stakes Race Favorite Entries

El Kabeir - John Terranova trained colt is the most experienced of all the entries and the most impressive. Last time out was a terrific win in gate-to-wire fashion in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill Downs November 29 - with a field best 94 Beyer Speed Figure. This after a good second in the Grade 2 Nashua Stakes on this track November 2, a fourth in the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes on an undesirable sloppy Belmont Park track in October and an eye-opening 10 length maiden win at Saratoga. He has two wins, a second and a third in five career starts and will line up from the outside post with Calvin Borel aboard looking to vault into first place on the Road to the Kentucky Derby points chase.

Nasa - John Servis trained colt has two wins, a second and a third place finish in four career starts but makes his first graded stakes start Saturday. He is coming off a nice gate-to-wire win in the minor Pennsylvania Nursery Stakes at Parx December 6, a third in the minor Christopher Elser Memorial on that same track November 16 and a maiden score in his second career start. He leaves from gate 8 with Kendrick Carmouche aboard.

Ostrolenka - Todd Pletcher trained colt has two wins in four career starts - the best of which came two back in the minor Sleepy Hollow Stakes at Belmont Park in October - a result that followed a maiden score on that same track in September. Last time out was a serious hiccup however - a thirteenth in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes on this track November 29. Ostrolenka will line up in gate 4 Saturday with Jose Ortiz in the irons.

Royal Burgh - will hit the track for the third time for trainer Todd Pletcher off a disappointing twelfth after a bad break in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes on this track November 29. That result followed a maiden score at first asking in October. Royal Burgh will hope to bounce back from an ugly effort with Manuel Franco in the reins from post 2.

Ackeret - Rudy Rodriguez pupil won an Allowance at Parx last time out December 16 after a fifth in his only stakes action - the minor James F. Lewis III Stakes at Laurel Park and a Maiden Claiming score at Belmont Park in October. He looks to break through in stakes company for the first time - with Irad Ortiz in the saddle from post 7.

Now We Are Free - Michelle Nevin trained colt debuted in July with a seventh in a MSW at Saratoga but has since won both of his starts - a Maiden Claiming in October and an Allowance Optional Claiming in November - both results at Laurel Park. He looks to make it three wins in a row with Fernando Jara aboard from post 5.

Mini Cosmo - Graham Motion trained colt will make his fourth career start Saturday having won two and finishing fourth in his only stakes race - the restricted Christopher Elser Memorial at Parx November 16. He followed that with an Allowance score on that same track December 14. Mini Cosmo steps into graded stakes company for the first time with Angel Arroyo aboard from the rail.

General Bellamy - legendary trainer Bill Mott sends out General Bellamy off a maiden score November 29 after failing to hit the board in his first two career starts. Junior Alvarado will be in charge in his first stakes start - from post 6.

Tencendur - George Weaver trained colt has just one career start - a third in a MSW on this track December 12. He will be looking to make a little noise in his first stakes start when he leaves from post 3 with Jeremy Rose guiding him.
