2015 Parx Dash Handicap Race Favorite Entries

Ben's Cat 5-2 - defending two-time champion in this race has an astounding 29 wins, eight seconds and four third place finishes in 48 career starts and has placed in his last eight starts overall including last year's Parx Dash. He enters off a second in the minor Pennsylvania Governor's Cup at Penn National May 30, a win in the minor Jim McKay Turf Sprint May 15, a second in an Allowance in April and a win in the minor Fabulous Strike Handicap at Penn National in November. Ben's Cat has been as competitive as they come in turf sprints on the East Coast and is expected to be again Saturday. Julian Pimentel will be in the saddle of the morning line favorite from gate 2.

Bold Thunder 4-1 - multiple stakes winner finished fourth in this race last year and went on to an eighth in the Grade 3 Turf Monster Handicap here in September. He did win minor Silks Run Stakes at Gulfstream in February, 2014 and he won the minor Turf Dash Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs in January. Bold Thunder has placed in his last three starts overall - a third last time out in the minor Pennsylvania Governor's Cup at Penn National May 30 followed a second in the minor Jim McKay Turf Sprint May 15 at Pimlico (both of those results behind Ben's Cat) and an Allowance score on that same track in April. Bold Thunder has hit the board in five of his last six races and looks pretty good ahead of this weekend. Pierre Hernandez Ortega gets the call on the morning line second choice from the rail

Power Alert 9-2 - Australian bred Brian Lynch trained gelding has won three of five North American starts - an Allowance in December, the minor Silks Run Stakes in March and the Grade 3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint two starts back at Churchill Downs May 1. Last time out was a fourth in the Grade3 Jaipur Invitational at Belmont Park June 6. Power Alert has 18 career starts with seven wins, two seconds and a third place finish and enters this weekend in decent form and looking for a second straight graded stakes score. Elvis Trujillo has the mount on the third betting choice from post 9 Saturday.

Amelia's Wild Ride 5-1 - won the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint in February and followed that with a second place finish in the minor Silks Run Stakes in March. It took until last time out for him to return to the winner's circle - a great victory over Ben's Cat and Bold Thunder in the minor Pennsylvania Governor's Cup May 20 which followed a third in the minor Jim McKay Turf Sprint May 15 and a disappointing tenth in the Grade 3 Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland in April. Amelia's Wild Ride has placed in four of his last five starts and enters in decent form this weekend. He tries for his first graded stakes score and to best Ben's Cat for the second straight race - from post 10 with Jose Lezcano in the irons.

Tightend Touchdown 8-1 - has finished second to Ben's Cat in the last two editions of this race. Last year's runner-up finish came after a win in the minor Pennsylvania Governor's Turf Cup. He also has a good second in the 2013 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. But Tightend Touchdown has struggled ahead of this year's Dash - he enters off a ninth in the minor Elusive Quality Stakes at Belmont Park April 29, a fifth in the Grade 3 Shakertown Stakes April 4 and another ninth in the minor Fabulous Strike Handicap at Penn National in November. He hopes to rediscover the form that saw him as an ultra-competitive turf sprinter in 2013 and 2014 when he leaves from post 5 with Frankie Pennington aboard.

Mongolian Saturday 12-1 - finished seventh in this race last year but has looked decent since. He has placed in eight of his last nine starts overall including a third in the Grade 3 Mr. Prospector Stakes five starts back at Gulfstream in December. Last time out was a second in an Optional Claiming at Thistletown June 17 which followed a third in the minor Silks Run Stakes at Gulfstream in March and a Starter Optional Claiming score in February. Mongolian Saturday hopes for his first graded stakes score in nine tries when he departs from the outside post 11 with a yet-to-be-named jockey guiding him.

Stormofthecentury 12-1 - winner of the 2013 Grade 3 Turf Monster Handicap on this track finished sixth in this race last year and hasn't had much success in graded stakes company since. He does enter having won two Allowance races in his last three starts - both at Mountaineer with a twelfth in the minor Turf Dash Stakes at Tampa Bay sandwiched in there. Stormofthecentury makes just his third start of 2015 in so-so form hoping to score in stakes company for the first time in nearly two years. Scott Spieth has been tabbed to ride from gate 8.

Mongol Bull 12-1 - won three straight Allowance races at Arlington at this time last year and went on to a good second in his only graded stakes action to date - the Woodford Stakes at Keeneland in October. He has just three starts since - an Allowance Optional Claiming score last time out at Churchill Downs June 5 followed a disappointing seventh in the minor Turf Dash Stakes in January and an ugly ninth in the minor Canterbury Stakes in December. He looked as though he was in a bit of a slump before a win last time out- hopes are that Mongol Bull can carry on the momentum from gate 6.

A Fleet Attitude 20-1 - makes his graded stakes debut Saturday after 20 career starts (18 on this track) produced six wins, six seconds and six third place finishes. He enters on a two race win streak - and Allowance Optional Claiming June 1 and the minor Lyman Handicap May 2 in his only stakes action. A Fleet Attitude has been very competitive every time out but makes a huge step up in competition Saturday - from post 7 with Angel Castillo guiding him.

Ancil 20-1 - won an Allowance Optional Claiming at Churchill Downs in November - the only time he's placed in his last eight starts overall. He did win the minor Turf Dash Stakes at Tampa Bay in March, 2014 but has failed to hit the board in five stakes tries since. Ancil has six wins, three seconds and three third place finishes in 27 career starts and looks in over his head in this one. Angel Serpa will be in the reins from post 3.

Stormy Rockit 20-1 - George Weaver trained gelding makes his stakes debut Saturday off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Pimlico May 24 and a pair of third place finishes in Allowance races at Keeneland. He has placed in four of his last five starts overall but takes an enormous step up in competition this weekend. Pablo Fragoso has been tabbed to ride from gate 4 Saturday.
