Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Bessarabian Stakes comes our way this Sunday, November 15 from Woodbine in Toronto, Ontario. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will take to Woodbine's All Weather Track and race seven furlong for the winner's portion of the $200,000 purse.
A competitive field of seven older females will give it a go in the Bessarabian Stakes - race 8 on Woodbine's Sunday schedule. Post time is 4:40 PM. Here is a glance into the past performances of all seven entries for this Grade 2 stakes.
Cactus Kris - Ryan Walsh trained filly has six wins, five seconds and three third place finishes in 17 career starts and enters off a career-best effort - a win in the Grade 3 Ontario Fashion Stakes here October 18. Before that was an OK second in the minor H.B. P.A Stakes at Presque Isle Downs October 6, a fourth in the Grade 2 Presque Isle Downs Masters in September, a third in the Grade 3 Seaway Stakes on this track in August and a win in the minor Satin and Lace Stakes at Presque Isle Downs in June. Cactus Kris has placed in six of her last seven starts overall and should be a confident entry this week on a track she's posted two wins, a second and a third place finish in four starts. She looks for her second graded stakes score in a row from gate 2 with Huber Villa-Gomez guiding her.
Endless Light - improving British bred Mark Frostad trained mare has placed in all nine career starts - two wins and seven second place finishes. She had a win and three runner-up finishes at home before debuting in North America with a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming in April. She has four straight starts on this track with consecutive runner-up finishes entering the weekend - behind Cactus Kris in the Grade 3 Ontario Fashion Stakes October 18 and the behind Marbre Rose in Grade 3 Seaway Stakes August 8. She also won the minor Sweet Briar Stakes in July at 10-1 odds. Endless Light has been competitive every time out but looks for her first graded stakes score Sunday - from the rail with Emma-Jayne Wilson in the saddle.
Marbre Rose - Irish bred Christophe Clement trained filly has been OK in her career - four wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 14 career starts. She posted a career highlight win two starts back - ahead of Cactus Kris the Grade 3 Seaway Stakes on this track but followed that with a sixth in the Grade 3 Noble Damsel Stakes September 16 at Belmont Park. She also had runner-up finishes in a pair of minor stakes races at Belmont Park in the summer. Marbre Rose has placed in three of her last four starts and six of eight overall - competitive virtually every time out the last year. She looks for a strong bounce back Sunday from gate 4 with Alan Garcia in the irons.

Miss Mischief - Dale Campuano trained mare has been good the last six months placing in six straight races ahead of this weekend. Last time out was a triumphant stakes debut - a win in the minor Etobicoke Stakes September 6 with a field best 98 Beyer Speed Figure after a maiden score at first asking in August - both results on this track. Elusive Collection hasn't been touched so far and hopes to remain perfect and make the grade when she leaves from post 3 with Luis Contreras aboard.
Skylander Girl - won the Grade 3 Hendrie Stakes on this track in May but has placed in just two of six starts since. Last time out was a fourth in the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Stakes here October 18 after a third in the OLG Algoma Stakes in September, a sixth in the Grade 3 Seaway Stakes in August and a third in the Grade 3 Ontario Matron Stakes in July.
