2015 EP Taylor Stakes Race Favorite Entries

Curvy 3-1 - British bred David Wachman trained group 1 placed filly made her anticipated North American debut October 3 and finished a somewhat disappointing fifth as favorite in the Grade 1 Flower Bowl Stakes at Belmont Park after a close fourth in the group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks and a third in the group 1 Darley Irish Oaks three starts back. Before that was an impressive four race win streak - all this year including a group 2 and group 3 race at home. She has four wins and a third place finish in 10 career starts but looks for a bounce back after an uncharacteristic effort last time out. Ryan Moore has been tabbed to ride the morning line favorite from post 9.

Strut the Course 4-1 - Canada's Sovereign Award winner for Older Females - Barbara Minshall trained mare was impressive this past summer - two wins and a second place finish. She enters off one of those wins - in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes September 13 after a second in the Grade 3 Ontario Matron Stakes July 25 and a win in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly Stakes July 5 - all results at Woodbine. She also had two stakes wins on this track at the end of 2014. She has 21 career starts with nine wins, four seconds and two third place finishes and has three wins and two seconds in six starts on this track. She enters in the best form of her career and will have Luis Contreras in the reins from gate 6 as the morning line second choice.

EP Taylor Stakes 2015 | Remaining Contenders

Eastern Belle 5-1 - Graham Motion trained British bred filly has placed in 10 of 11 career starts - just one win, seven seconds and two third place finishes. She enters on the heels of four straight runner-up finishes in stakes action - the Grade 3 Glens Falls Stakes September 25, the Grade 3 Fasig-Tipton Waya Stakes August 8, the Grade 2 New York Stakes in July and the minor Keertana Stakes in May. Her only win was a stakes in Britain in June, 2014. Eastern Belle has been knocking on the door and looks more than due for her first graded stakes score. John Velazquez has the call from gate 10.

Devonshire 6-1 - Willie McCreery trained Irish bred filly makes her North American debut Sunday having recorded two wins, five seconds and a third place finish. She enters off one of those wins - a stakes at Listowel September 16. Before that were a fourth and a second respectively in a pair of stakes races at home. Devonshire has been somewhat inconsistent lately but hopes to change all that with Patrick Husbands in the reins from gate 4.

Nakuti 8-1 - Irish bred filly makes her North American debut Sunday after 25 career starts produced just four wins and three third place finishes. She has won two of her last four starts overall however - both stakes races the last three months but does have a pair of off-the-board finishes sandwiched in there as well. Nakuti arrives in decent form and will have Andrea Atzeni guiding her from post 7.

Yaazy 10-1 - Irish bred filly will make just her fifth career start Sunday having posted two wins, a second and a third place finish so far. She makes her North American debut Sunday off a Stakes score at Saint Cloud September 14, a good runner-up finish in the Group 3 Prix Minerve in August and a third in the Group 2 Prix de Malleret in June. Yaazy has been impressive so far and hopes to keep the roll going from the rail with Antoine Hamelin in the saddle.

White Rose 12-1 - Bill Mott trained mare has six wins, four seconds and three third place finishes in 24 career starts and enters off the best result of her career- a win in the Grade 3 Glens Falls Stakes at Saratoga September 5. That result followed an OK third in the Grade 3 Fasig-Tipton Waya Stakes on that same track August 8 and five straight off-the-board finishes in graded stakes company. She also won two minor stakes starts last fall - the Kentucky Downs Ladies Marathon and the Rood and Riddle Dowager Stakes. White Rose has been trending upward after looking pedestrian earlier this year and could be a sneaky entry this weekend. Shaun Bridgmohan gets the mount from gate 8.

Talmada 15-1 - Roger Varian trained filly makes her North American debut Sunday after 12 starts in Europe produced two wins, three seconds and two third place finishes. She arrives off a stakes win at Great Yarmouth September 16 after consecutive fifths in stakes action this past summer and a second in a similar race at Newcastle. Talmada has placed in two of her last five starts and looks as though she'll be in tough in this one. William Buick gets the call from the outside post 12 Sunday.

Rosalind 20-1 - Chad Brown trained filly has placed in nine of 17 career starts and enters off a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Saratoga August 31, a fifth in the Grade 1 Delaware Handicap in July, a fourth in the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Stakes June 6 and a terrific win in the Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes May 2. Before that was a fifth in the Grade 2 Santa Ana Stakes in March and a second in the Grade 3 Suwannee River Stakes at Gulfstream February 7. She did win the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes in a dead heat in April, 2014 as well and did record a third after rallying from 16 lengths back in the 2013 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies but has struggled to find consistency since. Rosalind has placed in just three of her last 10 starts overall and although she's looked great at times this year, she hasn't been great at others. Jockey Alan Garcia hopes to change all that when Rosalind departs from gate 2.

Button Down 20-1 - Josie Carroll trained filly has two wins and six seconds in 12 career starts and has looked very good in her last four starts overall. She enters on the heels of consecutive runner up finishes - last time out in her graded stakes debut - behind Strut the Course in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes here September 13 and the minor Flaming Page Stakes also on this track August 15. Before that were two straight wins - an Allowance in July and a maiden score in May in her eighth career start. Button Down arrives in the best form of her career and will leave from gate 3 with Joel Rosario guiding her.

Lacy 20-1 - German bred filly has four wins and two second place finishes in 10 career starts. She won the Group 3 T. von Zastrow Stutenpreis last September in at Baden Baden and went on to a second in the Group 1 Premio Longines Lydia Tesio a year ago. She has just one start in North America - a seventh place finish in the Grade 1 Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington August 15 which followed a ninth place finish in her last start at home in the Group 3 Prix Allez France and a win in the minor Preis des Gestut. Lacy has been competitive at times in her career but has struggled mightily lately. Martin Lane has been tabbed with changing that from post 5 Sunday.

Uchenna 20-1 - Irish bred Roger Attfield trained filly won the Grade 3 Ontario Matron Stakes two starts back - July 25 on this track and followed that with a fourth place finish last time out in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes also here September 13. She also won an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track in May. She has just four wins in 14 career starts and enters in decent form having won two of her last four starts. Rafael Manuel Hernandez will be in charge of Uchenna from post 11 hoping for her second graded stakes win in her last three starts overall.
