2016 Del Mar Futurity Race Preview at Del Mar Race Course

Klimt - Bob Baffert trained colt has been impressive in his three career starts - two wins so far. He debuted with a fourth in the same race Chasing Aces was second - at Santa Anita June 25 and has since reeled off two good wins. Last time out was in the Grade 2 Best Pal Stakes on this track August 13 and the other was a nice maiden score at Santa Anita July 10. Klimt is the only stakes winner in the field and looks like the one to beat Monday. Rafael Bejarano has been tabbed to ride from the outside gate 8.

Chasing Aces - will hit the track for the third time for trainer Peter Miller - he has a win and a second place finish so far. He broke maiden last time out by 5 1/4 lengths and smashed a 53 year record for five furlongs on this track July 17 after a second in his debut. Chasing Aces has show improvement indeed and will leave from the rail with Tyler Baze aboard.

Straight Fire - Keith Desormeaux trained colt broke made last time out by an incredible 10 1/2 lengths in his second career start - on this track August 6. He finished second behind Chasing Aces July 17 here in his debut. Straight Fire steps into stakes company for the first time in decent form. Kent Desormeaux has the mount from gate 2.

Midnight Pleasure - Has just one career start for trainer Shelbe Ruis and it was a good one - a maiden score on this track February 24. He looked pretty good in that race and hopes the momentum carries to this week. Martin Garcia will be in the saddle hoping to accomplish that goal from post 3.

Vegas itch - George Papaprodromou trained colt will race for just the second time Monday - his first start resulted in a sixth in his debut on this track August 21. He didn't look great last time out and will be out to change his fortunes from gate 4. Jamie Theriot gets the call.

Dynamic Ruler - wasn't great in his only career start for trainer Vann Belvoir - a seventh on this track August 5. He will need a special effort to contend here and will leave from post 5 with Flavien Prat guiding him.
