OffTrackBetting.com - The Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks will be contested Saturday, August 20 at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, New Jersey. Three year olds fillies will take to Monmouth Park's dirt track and race 1 1/16 miles searching for the winner's share of the $100,000 purse.
A field of seven have been confirmed for the Monmouth Oaks - race 9 on Monmouth Park's Saturday card. Post time is 5:09 PM. Here is a glance into the past performances of all seven combatants for this intriguing Grade 3 stakes.
Mo d'Amour 2-1 - Todd Pletcher trained filly has three wins and two third place finishes in 10 career starts. She recorded a third place finish in the Grade 2 Gazelle Stakes at Aqueduct April 9 but has failed to place in four starts since - a fifth in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks May 6 was followed by an eighth in the minor Wonder Again Stakes June 5, a fourth in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park July 2 and another fourth last time out in the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga July 24. She won the minor Busher Stakes February 27 and had an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Laurel Park in February as well. Mo d'Amour has been a tad disappointing lately but not all that bad either. She will take solace in the fact that this represents a huge class relief and will be looking for a major breakthrough from gate 2 Saturday. Nik Juarez has the mount on the morning line favorite.
Tejana 5-2 - will hit the track for just the third time for trainer Shug McGaughey having won both of her starts so far in impressive fashion. Last time out was in an Allowance race by 4 1/4 lengths at Belmont Park July 13 after a maiden score by 4 1/2 lengths at first asking at Pimlico May 15. Tejana looks to remain unbeaten in her step up in competition - from post 3 with Edgar Prado aboard the intriguing second betting choice.

Unbridled Mo 7-2 - has just three career starts for trainer Todd Pletcher with two wins - both of which have come in her last two starts. Last time out was in an Allowance Optional Claiming July 3 after a maiden score May 29 - both on this track. She was seventh in her debut at Gulfstream in April. Unbridled Mo has been very good lately and hopes to keep her roll going in her stakes debut - from gate 6 with Paco Lopez guiding the morning line third choice.
Mo' Green 4-1 - has placed in four of six career starts for trainer Joseph Orseno - two wins, a second and a third place finish. She made her stakes debut in April and finished sixth in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks but has improved with every start since. Last time out was an Allowance Optional Claiming score July 29 after a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming July 3 and a third in a similar race May 28 - all on this track. Mo' Green has been improving lately and will be out for his first stakes score from the rail. Antonio Gallardo has been tabbed to ride the fourth choice.
A Place to Shine 6-1 - Kathy Mongeon trained filly has three wins, a second and a third place finish in six career starts - competitive every time out. She made her stakes debut last time out and finished a respectable second in the Grade 3 Delaware Oaks July 9 after a three race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming at Parx June 13, a Claiming in March and a Maiden Claiming in January - both at Gulfstream. A Place to has been good so far and will be after her first stakes win Saturday from gate 4 with Brian Pedroza in the irons.
Downdraft 12-1 - has seven career starts for trainer James Lawrence with two wins and a third place finish. She made her stakes debut May 20 and finished eighth in the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico and followed that with an Allowance score at Parx June 19 and a sixth in the Grade 3 Delaware Oaks last time out July 9. She broke maiden April 24, had a third in a similar race at Laurel Park March 20 and a pair of off-the-board finishes in her first two career starts. Downdraft has won two of her last four starts (against lesser company) but has failed to show up in the other two starts over that span. She tries for a first ever stakes win from the outside post 7 with a yet-to-be-determined jockey aboard.
Hi Holiday 20-1 - has two wins and two thirds in seven career starts for trainer Joseph Orseno - her best career result was a win in the minor Sorority Stakes on this track in her second career start last September. She has been just OK since - a third last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming July 23 followed a fifth in a similar race July 4 (both on this track), a DNF in the minor Melody of Colors Stakes February 20, a third in the minor OBS Sprint Stakes in January and a sixth in her only graded stakes action to date - the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes at Aqueduct in November. Hi Holiday looks for her first win in nearly a year and enters in so-so form. She will leave from post 5 with a yet-to-be-determined jockey in the saddle.
