2017 Flower Bowl Stakes Entries at Belmont Park

Zhukova

Irish bred DK Weld trained mare has seven wins in her 12 career starts. She won four straight races last summer at home including the Group 3 Irish National Stud E.B.F. Blue Wind Stakes and the Group 3 KPMG Enterprise Kilternan Stakes and has been OK in five starts since. Last time out was an eighth in the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes September 9 which followed a fourth in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes July 2 and two straight wins including against males in her only North American start - by six lengths with an impressive 107 Beyer Speed Figure in the G1 Man o' War Stakes on this very track May 13. Zhukova has failed to place in her last two starts overall but there is no denying her talent against top fields. She tries to make it two-for-two at Belmont with Patrick Smullen in the saddle from gate 4.

Grand Jete

British bred Chad Brown trained filly has placed in 10 of 12 career starts - four wins, three seconds and three third-place finishes. She made her North American in April and produced an Allowance score at Keeneland and has been good in three starts since. A decent but unlucky second last time out behind stablemate Dacita in the G1 Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington August 12 followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track July 14 and a good breakthrough 1 1/4 length win in the G3 Eatontown Stakes at Monmouth Park June 3. She posted an eighth in her final race at home - the Prix Ceres in November. She has been good since shipping (three wins and a second in four starts) and will try to keep a roll going Sunday with Javier Castellano in the saddle from the rail.

Dacita

Chilean champion, Chad Brown trained mare has 19 career starts with 10 wins, four seconds and a third-place finish and won three of her last four starts before shipping including three Group 1 races at home. She continued her impressive run in her North American debut with a win over the incredible Tepin in the G2 Ballston Spa Stakes at Saratoga last August 29 but stumbled to a ninth-place finish as 5-1 second choice in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. She has been decent lately - a nice win last time out in the G1 Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington August 12 followed an un characteristic sixth in the G2 New York Stakes June 9 and consecutive runner-up finishes - the G3 Beaugay Stakes on this track May 13 and the 2016 G2 Canadian Stakes back in September. Before those results was a terrific two race win streak in 2016 - the G1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga July 23 and the 2016 G2 New York Stakes June 19 at Belmont Park. Dacita is of the only horses in some time to beat Tepin and enters in good form. She has three wins and three seconds in her last seven starts overall and will try to keep the momentum going Saturday. Irad Ortiz has been tabbed to ride from post 3.

War Flag

Shug McGaughey trained filly has eight career starts and has placed in all - four wins, three seconds and a third-place finish. Last time out was an OK third in the G3 Glens Fall Stakes at Saratoga September 2 after a second in the G3 Matchmaker Stakes at Monmouth Park July 30 and a last-to-first Allowance Optional Claiming score on that track June 18. She won her last two starts in France before shipping as well - the Group 3 Prix Chloe July 10 and an Allowance June 1. War Flag has been competitive so far in her career and searches for a first graded stakes win Saturday. Jose Ortiz rides from gate 2.

Beauly

British bred Brendan Walsh trained filly has three wins and a second-place finish in 12 career starts. She wasn't all that great at home, failing to place in her last four starts there but has been OK in five North American starts. She enters on the heels of consecutive fourths - the G2 Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Stakes September 9 and the G3 Violet Stakes August 19. Before that was a nice win in the listed Indiana General Assembly Distaff July 15, a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming June 28 and an Allowance score May 26 - the latter two starts at Churchill Downs. Beauly steps up in OK form and hopes for a first graded stakes score Saturday with Manuel Franco aboard from post 5.

Guilty Twelve

Graham Motion trained mare has four wins and two second place finishes in 11 career starts. She enters off a disappointing seventh in the G3 Waya Stakes at Saratoga August 5 which followed a nice breakthrough win in the G3 Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes at Delaware Park July 8 and an Allowance score at here May 19 Before that was a fifth in the minor Kentucky Downs Ladies Marathon September 15 and another Allowance score at Saratoga last July 28. She has four wins and a second-place finish in her last seven starts and will be after a strong bounce back Saturday with Christopher De Carlo in the irons from the outside gate 6.
