2017 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint Field & Odds at Del Mar

Lady Aurelia 5-2

Wesley Ward trained filly has seven career starts (six overseas) and has placed in all - five wins, a second and a third-place finish. She arrives off a second in the Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York August 25 and two straight wins - the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot June 20 and the listed Giant's Causeway Stakes in her only North American start - at Keeneland April 15. Before that was a third in a Group 1 at Newmarket in September, 2016 and three straight wins to start her career including the Group 1 Darley Prix Morny in France August 21, 2016 and the 2016 Group Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. Lady Aurelia has been impressive so far in her career and hopes to keep a roll going from post 3 as the morning line favorite.

Marsha 7-2

Irish bred Sir Mark Prescott trained filly has placed in 15 of 17 career starts - seven wins, five seconds and three third-place finishes. She makes her North American debut Saturday of a second in the Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp at Chantilly October 1, a win in the Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York August 25 and a third in the Qatar King George Stakes at Goodwood in August. Before that was a second in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes at Curragh in July, a third in the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and two straight wins including a Group 3 in May and a Group 1 in France last October. Marsha has been a factor every time out and hopes for a career-defining win Saturday from gate 6.

Disco Partner 9-2

Christophe Clement trainee has hit the board in 15 of 20 career starts - nine wins, four seconds and two third-place finishes. He enters off a win in the minor Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational October 7 which followed a slightly disappointing fourth in the G1 Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga August 12 and a good three-race win streak - the listed forbidden Apple Stakes June 15, the G3 Jaipur Invitational in world record time for six furlongs on turf June 10 and the minor Elusive Quality Stakes in April - all at Belmont Park. Before that was a fourth in 2016 Belmont Turf Sprint and a win in the listed Troy Stakes on this track last August. Disco Partner had been very good this past year and tries for a fifth stakes win in six starts from the rail.

Richard's Boy 10-1

Has placed in 19 of 26 career starts for trainer Peter Miller - nine wins, seven seconds and three third place finishes. He enters off an OK second in the minor California Flag Handicap at Santa Anita October 21 which followed a third in the minor Green Flash Handicap on this track August 18 and a sixth in the G3 Parx Dash July 8. Before that was a seventh in the listed Pennsylvania Governor's Cup at Penn National June 3 and a nice win in the minor Jim McKay Turf Sprint at Pimlico May 19. Other good results include a second in the minor Sensational Star Stakes February 25, a good win in the minor Donald Valpredo California Cup Sprint in January- the last two at Santa Anita, a third in the G3 San Simeon Stakes at Santa Anita in December and a second in the G3 Eddie D Stakes on that track last September. Richard's Boy has been OK lately and will look to snap a four-race losing streak from post 7 Saturday.

Pure Sensation 10-1

Defending third-place finisher in this race - Christophe Clement trained gelding has 24 career starts with nine wins, four seconds and three third place finishes. He enters off one of his wins - the G3 Turf Monster Stakes at Parx September 4 which followed a sixth in the listed Troy Handicap at Saratoga August 6 and another win in the G3 Parx Dash July 8. Before that were consecutive fourth place finishes - the G3 Jaipur Invitational at Belmont Park June 10 and the G3 Twin Spires Turf Sprint at Churchill Downs May 5. He also had an OK third as favorite in the 2016 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint and a terrific three race win streak - the minor Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational October 8, the 2016 Parx Dash July 9 and the G3 Jaipur Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park last June 11. Pure has been inconsistent but has won two of his last three starts overall and will chase a seventh graded stakes score Saturday from the outside gate 12.

Stormy Liberal 12-1

Peter Miller trained gelding has 21 career starts with seven wins, six seconds and a third-place finish. He arrives off a career-worst effort - an eighth in the G3 Jaipur Invitational Stakes at Belmont Park June 10 which followed a four-race win streak - the G3 Daytona Stakes in May, the minor Siren Lure Stakes in April, the listed Joe Hernandez Stakes in March and the minor Clocker's Corner Stakes in January - all at Santa Anita. Before that were consecutive seconds - the best of which coming in the G3 San Simeon Stakes at Santa Anita in December. Stormy Liberal had been in career-best form before last time out and hopes to bounce back into the win column from gate 4.

Bucchero 12-1

Tim Glyshaw trainee has hit the board in 16 of 22 career starts - 10 wins, five seconds and a third-place finish. He enters on a very nice two-race win streak - last time out in the G2 Woodford Stakes at Keeneland October 7 (a race he finished eleventh in 2016), the minor Brickyard Stakes at Indiana Grand September 13 and the listed Senator Robert C. Byrd Memorial Stakes at Mountaineer August 5. Before that was a seventh in the listed Michael G. Schaefer Memorial Stakes July 14, an OK second in the listed Karl Boyes Memorial Stakes in June and an Allowance score in May. Bucchero has six stakes wins and has been seriously trending upward ahead of his weekend. He leaves from post 7 Saturday.

Michael Maker trained gelding has 46 career starts with 17 wins, 12 seconds and six third-place finishes. He has been pretty good lately - a second last time out in the G2 Woodford Stakes at Keeneland October 7 followed a career-best win in the G3 Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint September 9, a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Saratoga August 3 and a fifth in the G3 Jaipur Invitational at Belmont Park June 10. Before that was an OK third in the G2 Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland April 8 and a good win in the minor Colonel Power Overnight Stakes at Fair Grounds in February. Holding Gold has been up and down in his career and will be out to snap a four-race losing streak Saturday from gate 2.

Cotai Glory 20-1

Has just four wins in his 29 career starts for trainer Charles Murphy to go along with five seconds and three third-place finishes. He enters on the heels of consecutive seconds - in his North American debut last time out - the G2 Nearctic Stakes at Woodbine October 15 and the Group 2 Dubai International Airport World Trophy in Britain September 23 - a race he won in 2016. Before those results were a fifth, a third, a fourth and another third in stakes races in Britain. Cotai Glory has been just OK lately and searches for his first win in nearly 14 months Saturday from gate 8.

Mongolian Saturday 20-1

2015 Eclipse Award finalist for Male Sprinter finished won in this race in 2015 and was ninth last year. He has been just OK ahead of this weekend - a third last time out in the G2 Woodford Stakes at Keeneland October 7 (he won that race in 2015) followed a second in the G3 Turf Monster Stakes at Parx September 4, a fifth in the listed Troy Handicap at Saratoga August 6 and an OK second in the G3 Parx Dash in July. Before that was a sixth in the G2 Shakertown Stakes at Keeneland April 8, a third in the minor Silks Run Stakes at Gulfstream Park March 11, a tenth in the minor Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint and a ninth in the 2016 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. Mongolian Saturday hopes to find his 2015 form Saturday and for a first win in 13 months (8 races) when he leaves from post 9.

Washington DC 20-1

Defending seventh-place finisher in this race - Aidan O'Brien trained Irish bred colt has placed in 15 of 25 career starts - six wins, eight seconds and a third-place finish. He won the Group 3 At The Races Phoenix Sprint Stakes at Curragh August 13 but has failed to hit the board in two starts since - a seventh last time out in the Group 1 British Champions Sprint Stakes at Royal Ascot October 21 followed a tenth in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York August 25. He failed to place in his previous three as well. Outside of one good result this, Washington DC has been largely underwhelming but chases a career-defining win from post 5.
