OffTrackBetting.com - Del Mar Race Track in Del Mar, California will be the scene of the G1 Del Mar Oaks Presented by The Jockey Club on Saturday, August 19. Three year old fillies will be featured when they take to Del Mar's turf track and race 1 1/8 miles for the winner's share of the $300,000 purse.
A full and wide-open field of 14 will give it a go in the Del Mar Oaks - race 10 on Del Mar's impressive Saturday card. Post time is 6:30 PM. Let's take a brief glance into the past performances of all 14 combatants for this important G1 stakes.
Wesley Ward trained filly has three wins and a second-place finish in seven career starts. She makes her graded stakes debut Saturday off a nice upset win at 20-1 in England in the Sandringham Handicap at Ascot June 21 after a fourth in the listed Soaring Softly Stakes at Belmont Park May 20, a second in the listed Juvenile Turf Sprint at Santa Anita November 5, a fourth in the listed Surfer Girl Stakes on that track in October and a nice 5 3/4 length win in the minor Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga last August. Con Te Partiro has been decent in minor stakes action and hopes it translates in his step up - from post 5 with Flavien Prat guiding the tepid morning line favorite.
Richard Baltas trained Irish bred filly has four wins and three runner-up finishes in 12 career starts. She arrives off a career-best effort - a nice last-to-first 1 3/4 length win at 21-1 odds in the G2 San Clemente Handicap on this track July 23. It followed a runner-up finish in the minor Special Goddess Stakes at Santa Anita June 11, an Allowance score on that track May 14, a tenth in the minor China Doll Stakes there March 11 and a fourth in the minor Sweet Life Stakes on that track in February. Before that was a thirteenth in her North American debut - the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and a nice win in her last start at home - the Group 3 Bathwick Tyres Dick Poole Stakes in September. Madam Dancealot has been good recently, has a chance to solidify her claim to the3-year-old filly championship when she leaves from gate 2 with Jamie Theriot aboard the second betting choice.

Irish bred Simon Callaghan trained filly has two wins and three runner-up finishes in her seven career starts. She enters off a career-worst result - a sixth in the G1 Belmont Oaks Invitational July 8 after three straight quality runner-up finishes - the G2 Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita June 17, in the G3 Senorita Stakes on that track May 6 and the minor China Doll Stakes in March also at Santa Anita. Before that was an Allowance Optional Claiming score January 29 and a maiden score overseas in August. Beau Recall has been in the mix the last year and shoots for a first stakes score in her fifth try. Flavien Joe Talamo from gate 12.
Mark Casse trained filly has three wins, two seconds and a third-place finish in 11 career starts - she has looked terrific at times in her career. Last time out was a disappointing seventh in the G3 Lake George Stakes at Saratoga July 21 after an OK third in the G3 Wonder Again Stakes at Belmont Park June 8, a second in the G3 Edgewood Stakes at Churchill Downs May 5, a fourth in the G3 Appalachian Stakes at Keeneland April 13 and two straight wins - the best of which coming in the G3 Herecomesthebride Stakes at Gulfstream Park in March. Dream Dancing has been a tad inconsistent lately but has placed in four of her last six starts ahead of this weekend. She shoots for a strong bounce back off an underwhelming effort - from gate 10 with Julien Leparoux scheduled to ride.
Has placed in five of seven career starts for trainer Neil Drysdale - one win and four third place finishes. Last time out was a fifth in the G2 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park July 1 after an OK fourth in the G1 Kentucky Oaks May 5 and consecutive thirds - the G3 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park April 14 and the G2 Fair Grounds Oaks April 1. Before that was a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita and a maiden score at Del Mar in November. Vexatious has been OK so far in her career and will be after a first stakes score from post 7 Saturday. Rafael Bejarano has been tabbed to ride.
Has two wins and two runner-up finishes in seven career starts for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. She arrives off consecutive fourths - an Allowance Optional Claiming here last time out July 20 and the G1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland April 8. Before that was an OK second in the minor California Oaks at Golden Gate February 11, an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Santa Anita January 13 and a fourth after tiring in her only other graded stakes action to date - the G1 Starlet Stakes at Los Alamitos December 10. She started her career with a maiden score at first asking and an OK second in the minor Pike Place Dancer Stakes at Golden Gate October 29. Tapped has been OK so far in her career and will try for a first stakes Saturday with Mike Smith in the reins from post 13.
Will race for the third time for trainer Cliff Sise having posted two wins so far. She steps into stakes company for the first time Saturday off and Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track July 21. Before that was a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming July 2 and a maiden score at first asking - both at Santa Anita. Meadowsweet steps up in decent form and hopes to make some noise in her biggest race to date - from gate 6 with Kent Desormeaux in the irons.
Lightly raced filly hit the track for just the fifth time for trainer Peter Eurton having posted a win, a second and two third-place finishes so far. Last time out was a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming here July 21 which followed consecutive thirds - the G2 Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita June 17 and behind Sircat Sally and Beau Recall in the G3 Senorita Stakes there May 6. Those results followed a win at first asking - at Santa Anita March 3. Pacific Wind has been competitive so far and hopes to be again Saturday with Corey Nakatani guiding her from post 11.
Has placed in six of seven career starts for trainer Richard Baltas - two wins and four second-place finishes. She enters on a two-race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out June 28 at Indiana Grand and a maiden score on that track June 7. Before that were three straight runner-up finishes in MSW races earlier this year. Kathy's Song has been trending upward ahead of this weekend and hopes her success against lesser company translates in her step up Saturday. Gary Stevens has the mount from gate 8.
Has 11 career starts for trainer Peter Miller with two wins, a second and three third place finishes. Last time out was a fourth in the G2 San Clemente Stakes on this track July 23 which followed an OK third in the minor Special Goddess Stakes at Santa Anita June 11 and a sixth in her only graded stakes action to date - the G3 Edgewood Stakes at Churchill Downs May 5. She won her two previous starts - an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita April 2 and a MSW March 5. Storm The Hill has placed in four of her last six starts overall but hasn't hit the board in her last two. Jockey Santiago Gonzalez hopes to change all of that from post 9 Saturday.

She made her graded stakes debut last time out and finished fifth in the competitive G2 San Clemente Stakes on this track July 23 which followed a nice win in the minor Special Goddess Stakes at Santa Anita June 11, a second in an Allowance there May 14, a maiden score at Santa Anita April 21 and a second in a similar race on that track in March. Kenda had been trending upward before a disappointment last time out and hopes to bounce back from the rail. Tyler Baze will be in the saddle.
Has two wins in her five career starts for trainer Richard Mandella - one coming two starts back in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita July 2 and the other coming in her debut at Del Mar in August. Her other three starts resulted in a sixth last time out in the G2 San Clemente Stakes on this track July 23 and a pair of fourth-place finishes - in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita May 13 and in the minor Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf in September. Blame It On Alphie has been up and down so far in her career and will be after a career-defining win from post 3 Saturday. Victor Espinoza has been tabbed to ride.
Has 10 career stars for trainer Doug O'Neill with two wins, two seconds and a third-place finish. She makes her stakes debut Saturday off a Starter Allowance score August 2 and a sixth in an Allowance Optional Claiming July 21 - both on this track. Before that was a fourth in a Starter Optional Claiming May 26, a second in a Starter Allowance April 28 and a Maiden Claiming score March 10 - all three at Santa Anita. Pistol Packin Rose has placed in five of her last seven starts - in OK form ahead of this step up in competition. Mario Gutierrez rides from gate 4.
