2017 Delaware Handicap Entries at Delaware Park

Songbird 1-5

Jerry Hollendorfer trained superstar filly and 2016 Eclipse Award winner for three-year-old filly and 2015 winner for two-year-old fillies enters off a nice bounce-back win in the G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes at Belmont Park June 10 which followed her only career loss - a close second place finish behind the terrific four-time Champion Beholder in the Breeders' Cup Distaff. She won all four of her starts in 2015, the last three in G1 events including by an impressive 5 1/4 lengths in the G1 Del Mar Debutante, the G1 Chandelier Stakes by 4 1/2 lengths at Santa Anita, and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies by 5 3/4 lengths. She has eight starts in 2016 and eight more impressive wins - in the G1 Cotillion Stakes at Parx, in the G1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga, by over five lengths in the G1 Coaching Club American Oaks, by 6 1/2 lengths in the G2 Summertime Oaks, by 3 1/4 lengths in the G1 Santa Anita Oaks, the G3 Santa Ysabel Stakes by 3 3/4 lengths and by 6 1/2 lengths in the G2 Las Virgenes Stakes. She's posted eight gate-to-wire wins in 13 starts - by a combined 55+ lengths and looks to build another impressive streak. In a five-furlong move June 29, Songbird earned the bullet among 29 workers when she completed the distance in :59 3/5. Mike Smith will be in the irons of the obvious overwhelming favorite from post 5.

Weep No More 6-1

George Arnold II trained filly looked great early in her career - three straight wins including the minor Suncoast Stakes at Tampa Bay in March, 2016 was followed by a win in the 2016 G1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland. She has failed to place in five starts since however - a sixth last time out in the G2 Fleur de Lis Handicap June 17 followed a fifth in the G3 Matron Stales May 20 (both at Churchill Downs), a fourth in the G1 Alabama Stakes last August, a fifth in the G1 Coaching Club American Oaks last July and a seventh in the 2016 G1 Kentucky Oaks. Weep No More has been underwhelming to say the least the last year but hopes to return to her early/2016 career while snapping a five-race losing streak when she leaves from post 3 with Joel Rosario aboard the morning line second choice.

Martini Glass 8-1

Keith Nations trained filly has 14 career starts with seven wins, a second and a third-place finish. She makes her graded stakes debut Saturday off an OK second in the minor Obeah Stakes on this very track June 10 after two straight Starter Allowance scores at Tampa Bay in April and an Allowance Optional Claiming score on that track in March. Martini Glass has certainly been trending upward ahead of this weekend and looks ready for her graded stakes bow. Jose Ferrer has been tabbed to ride from gate 2.

Line of Best Fit 12-1

Kieron Magee trained mare has 15 wins, six seconds and five third place finishes in 38 career starts and enters having won five of her last six starts. She enters on a two-race Allowance Optional Claiming win streak - both at Parx with the last coming June 27 after a third in a similar race on that track in May and three more Allowance Optional Claiming scores with one coming on this track in May, 2016. Line of Best Fit has been terrific lately against lesser competition and arrives in career-best form. She hopes to keep the roll going from gate 4 Saturday with Edwin Gonzalez in the saddle.

Miss Mo Kelly 15-1

Has just three wins in 23 career starts for trainer Kellyn Gorder to go along with six seconds and five third place finishes. She arrives off a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Churchill Downs June 29 which followed an ugly eleventh in the G3 Matron Stakes on that track May 20, another third in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Churchill Downs at Oaklawn Park April 12 and a sixth in the G2 Azeri Stakes there in March. Her only win the last 16 months came in the minor She's All In Handicap at Remington Park in December. Miss Mo Kelly hasn't been all that impressive in her career but chases a career-defining win from the rail Saturday. Carol Cedeno gets the call.

Hone In 15-1

Has just three wins, three seconds and two third place finishes in 26 career starts. She has placed in just one of her last nine starts overall - a sixth in an Allowance last time out at Churchill Downs June 8 followed an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Indiana Grand May 19 and seven straight underwhelming results against lesser company. Her only graded stakes result to date was a sixth in the 2015 G3 Torrey Pines Stakes. Hone In hasn't been great at all but hopes for a breakthrough performance with Tyler Gaffalione guiding her from the outside gate 6.
