2017 Spiral Stakes Entries at Turfway Park

Kitten's Cat 4-1 - Joe Sharp trained colt has placed in six of seven career starts - three wins, a second and two third place finishes. He enters off a respectable second in the G3 Palm Beach Stakes March 4 after a nice win in the listed Kitten's Joy Stakes February 4 and a fourth in the G3 Dania Beach Stakes January 7 - all at Gulfstream. Before that was a nice win in the minor Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita in November and a third in the G3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park in October. Kitten's Cat has been competitive every time out so far and hopes for a first graded stakes score Saturday. Luis Saez has been tabbed to ride the tepid morning line favorite from gate 8.

Parlor 5-1 - Eddie Kenneally trained colt has two wins and a runner-up finish in his three career starts. He makes his graded stakes debut Saturday off an Allowance Optional Claiming score February 22 at Tampa Bay, seven months away, a decent second in the minor Kentucky Downs Juvenile Stakes and a maiden score at first asking back in August. Parlor shoots for his biggest win to date Saturday with Jesus Lopez Castanon in the irons of the co-second choice from post 9.

King and His Court 5-1 - has placed in seven of nine career starts for trainer Mark Casse - three wins and four third place finishes. He enters off a disappointing ninth in the G3 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay February 11 which followed consecutive minor stakes scores - the Display Stakes December 3 and the Coronation Futurity November 13 and three straight thirds including the G3 Grey Stakes October 9 and the minor Colin Stakes in September - all at Woodbine. King and His Court shoots for a first graded stakes win in his third try Saturday and for a strong bounce back after an ugly effort with Gary Boulanger aboard of the other co-second choice from post 11.

Soglio 6-1 - has placed in five of six career starts for trainer Graham Motion - one win, two seconds and two third place finishes. He makes his graded stakes debut Saturday off a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita February 5, a second in the minor Eddie Logan Stakes on that track December 30 and a maiden score at Del Mar December 4. Soglio has place in his last three starts overall and will be chasing is biggest win to date. Trevor McCarthy has been tabbed to ride from gate 2.

Convict Pike 8-1 - has a win, two seconds and a third place finish in six career starts for trainer George Arnold. He makes his graded stakes debut Saturday having placed in four straight - an OK second last time out in the minor OBS Championship (Colts and Geldings Division) at Ocala Training Center January 24 followed a maiden score and a third and a second respectively in a trio of MSW races this past winter. Convict Pike has been OK lately and hopes for a breakthrough performance Saturday with Angel Cruz aboard from gate 4.

Giant Payday 8-1 - has placed in four of six career starts for trainer Ian Wilkes - one win, two seconds and a third place finish. Last time out was a fifth in his stakes debut - the G3 Palm Beach Stakes at Gulfstream March 4 after consecutive seconds in Allowance Optional Claiming races and a maiden score in his third career start - at Keeneland in October. Giant Payday had looked good before a hiccup last time out and will be out to avenge that result. Corey Landeros gets the call from gate 6.

Bronson 10-1 - will race for the fifth time for trainer Todd Pletcher having posted two wins and a second place finish so far. Last time out was an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Gulfstream January 29 which followed a second in a similar race on that track December 30, a fourth in his only stakes action to date - the G3 Sanford Stakes at Saratoga in July and a maiden score at first asking at Monmouth Park in June. Bronson has been a factor every time out and shoots for a career-defining win Saturday. Manuel Franco is scheduled to ride from gate 10.

Blueridge Traveler 12-1 - has a win and a pair of second place finishes in four career starts for trainer Kenneth McPeek. He makes his stakes debut Saturday having finally broken maiden last time out in his fourth start - at Oaklawn Park February 20. Before that were consecutive seconds and a fifth respectively in a trio of MSW races to start his career. Blueridge Traveler has been OK but takes a major step up in competition Saturday from the rail. Channing Hill will be in the saddle.

Colonel Samsen 15-1 - Eoin Harty trained gelding has nine career starts with two wins, a second and two third place finishes. He enters off a fifth in the G3 El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate February 18 which followed an OK third in the minor California Derby on that track January 21, a disappointing sixth in the G3 Sham Stakes at Santa Anita January 7 and a nice two race win streak - the minor Gold Rush Stakes at Golden Gate December 3 and a maiden score at Del Mar November 13. He failed to place in his previous two however - a tenth in the minor Zuma Beach Stakes October 10 followed a fourth in a MSW October 1 - both at Santa Anita. Colonel Samsen arrives in so-so form but has failed to place in his two graded stakes starts so far. Jockey Jose Lezcano hopes to change all of that from post 5 Saturday.

Fast and Accurate 15-1 - has five career starts for trainer Michael Maker with two wins and a second place finish. He enters on a nice two race win streak - in front-running fashion in the minor Sage of Monticello Stakes last time out at Gulfstream Park February 20 and a Maiden Claiming on this track December 4. He failed to place in his previous two starts. Fast and Accurate has been trending upward indeed and looks to make it three straight wins in his graded stakes debut with Tyler Gaffalione in the reins of this intriguing 15-1 shot from post 3.

En Hanse 15-1 - Michael Maker trained colt has three wins, a second and a third place finish in his eight career starts. He steps into graded stakes company for the first time off a decent second in the minor John Battaglia Stakes March 4, a good win in the minor WEBN Stakes February 11 (both on this track), a seventh in the minor Space City Stakes at Sam Houston January 29 and two straight wins including an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track in December. En Hanse has been very good on this track and hopes to carry that momentum forward Saturday. Robby Albarado will be in the saddle from the outside gate 12 at an enticing 15-1.

Shiraz 20-1 - Michael Maker trained colt has a win, a second and two third place finishes in seven career starts. Last time out was one of those thirds - an Allowance Optional Claiming at Aqueduct February 26 after a sixth in the OBS Championship (Colts and Geldings Division) Stakes January 24, a respectable third in his only graded stakes action - the G3 Dania Beach Stakes at Gulfstream January 7 and a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming in November. Shiraz has been a tad tough to figure out and will be after a first stakes score from post 7 Saturday. Rafael Manuel Hernandez has the mount.
