2017 Sky Classic Stakes Entries at Woodbine Racetrack

Can'thelpbelieving 8-5

Irish bred Graham Motion trained gelding has four wins, seven seconds and three third place finishes in 22 career starts. Last time out was an OK second behind Dragon Bay in the G2 Nijinksky Stakes on this track July 29 which followed another respectable second in the G1 United Nations Stakes at Monmouth Park July 1, a fourth in the G3 Red Bank Stakes on that track May 27, a very disappointing eleventh in the G1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs May 6, nine months away and a career-best win in the G3 Cliffhanger Stakes at Monmouth Park last July 30. He also finished a respectable third in the 2016 G1 Man `o War Stakes at Belmont Park. Can'thelpbelieving has been up and down so far in his career but has looked good in his last two starts overall. He tries to build on those reasonable efforts when he leaves from the rail with Joe Bravo in the saddle of the morning line favorite.

Dragon Bay 2-1

Has placed in 10 of 18 career starts for trainer Stuart Simon - five wins, two seconds and three third place finishes. He enters off a terrific win in the G2 Nijinsky Stakes here July 29 after a disappointing sixth in the G2 King Edward Stakes here July 2 and a nice win in the G2 Eclipse Stakes on this track May 20. Before that was a fifth in an Allowance at Keeneland April 19, a seventh in the G3 Canadian Turf Stakes at Gulfstream Park March 4, a win in the minor English Channel Stakes at Belmont Park in October and an OK second in the G3 Ontario Derby on this track in September. He failed to hit the board in his previous three starts. Dragon Bay, like Can'thelpbelieving has been a tad up and down but has won two of his last three starts overall (both graded stakes on this track). He shoots for a second straight with Gary Boulanger in the irons of the second betting choice from gate 4.

Starship Jubilee 5-2

Impressive filly has 14 career starts for trainer Kevin Attard with eight wins and a second-place finish. She arrives on the heels of a five-race win streak - The G2 Dance Smartly Stakes here July 2, the G2 Nassau Stakes on this track May 27, an Allowance Optional Claiming April 21, a Starter Allowance March 22 and another Allowance Optional Claiming March 9 - the last three at Gulfstream. She posted a runner-up finish and another win in a pair of Claiming races on that track to start 2017. Starship Jubilee has been superb lately and will chase a fifth straight win (second straight graded stakes score) from post 3. Luis Contreras gets the call on the morning line third choice.

Pumpkin Rumble 8-1

Kevin Attard trained gelding has 29 career starts with four wins, five seconds and seven third-place finishes. Last time out was a decent third behind Dragon Bay and Can'thelpbelieving in the G2 Nijinsky Stakes on this track July 29 which followed another third in the G3 Singspiel Stakes here July 2, another third in an Allowance Optional Claiming here June 9 and a second in a similar race May 17 on this track. He failed to place in his previous four starts. Pumpkin Rumble has been OK in his last four starts and will be hoping for a first ever graded stakes score from post 5 Sunday with Jesse Campbell guiding him.

Noble Thought 10-1

Has placed in eight of 10 career starts for trainer Malcolm Pierce - three wins, three seconds and two third place finishes. He has failed to hit the board in his last two however - a fourth last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming here July 22 followed a sixth in his stakes debut - the G2 Eclipse Stakes on this track May 20. Before that was a second in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Tampa Bay March 21 and consecutive Allowance Optional Claiming scores on that track to start 2017. He had three starts on this track to start his career with a second and two third place finishes - all in 2015. Patrick Husbands will be guide Sunday from gate 2 in hopes of gaining Noble Thought's first stakes score.

Galileo's Spear 20-1

French bred Roger Attfield trained colt has just one win in seven career starts and has failed to place in the others. His win came at home in May, 2016 - his second career start but hasn't been great since. He makes his stakes debut off a seventh in an Allowance here July 14 and a tenth and a fourth respectively in a pair of Allowance races on this track early this past summer. Galileo's Spear has yet to show us very much but will be out to make a serious statement from gate 6 Sunday. Jerome Lermyte has the mount.
