SANTA ANITA STABLE NOTES

Triple Crown king American Pharoah stood in the gate and later galloped Friday morning as he nears his final workout at Santa Anita Monday for the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland next Saturday.

Victor Espinoza was aboard Santa Anita Oaks winner Stellar Wind (Distaff) as she worked five furlongs on Santa Anita’s fast main track Friday in 1:01.20 for John Sadler. “She went very good,” Espinoza said. “She’s ready to go.”

Hard Aces (Classic) worked six furlongs from the gate in company with Blue Navy Blue for Sadler, the former getting a time of 1:13.40 while Blue Navy Blue was given a five furlong clocking of 1:01.40.

Sharla Rae (Filly & Mare Turf) went four furlongs on the main track in 50.60 for Doug O’Neill, who also sent Chandelier Stakes runner-up Land Over Sea the same distance in 51 seconds flat. Both had exercise rider Jonny Garcia aboard. Jimmy Bouncer (Turf Sprint) went five furlongs for O’Neill in 1:01.20.

Jerry Hollendorfer trainee Wild Dude (Sprint) has his final major drill at 6:30 tomorrow morning with Rafael Bejarano up.
