Bill Mott, winning trainer of Filimbi (No. 9): "He let her run out of there; she had a clean break and she broke well enough. She was a little wide around the first turn but after that, midway around the turn, he was able to tuck in, so it wasn't a terribly wide trip. When he wanted to, he had a clear run. He was able to move her up a little bit leaving the half-mile pole. What I was impressed with was, from the eighth pole home, she ran heads up with the good horse at the eighth pole, and now you have to see, did we miss a little training? Did she get a little tired? She just accelerated and seemed to put in a real nice run. You always hope they keep improving a little bit at a time. I think this was a very solid field. No one could deny there were some very nice fillies in here."
Joel Rosario, winning jockey aboard Filimbi (No. 9): ""We had a good trip. I thought we were going to be a little closer, but I saw Javier [Castellano, aboard Dayatthespa] send his horse to the lead and a couple more had speed. I just let her place herself wherever she wanted to be, and I just hoped that she'd kick turning home.
"She's a nice filly, the more you ask, the more she gives. I was very confident."
