Gulfstream, Pegasus Runners Part of Belmont Stakes Day

Belmont Watch Party at Gulfstream Park Saturday Twilight Racing, Live Music Friday

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Several stars from Gulfstream Park’s Championship Meet, including Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1) winner Bricks and Mortar and Fountain of Youth (G2) runner-up Bourbon War, will be part of the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival this weekend.

Gulfstream will not only show Saturday’s Belmont Stakes program, including the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes (G1), but will offer a live program of racing featuring the $100,000 Soldier’s Dancer on the turf.

First-race post Saturday is 12:35 p.m. Belmont first post will be 11:35 a.m. Silks will open at Gulfstream at 10:30 a.m. Advance wagering on Belmont’s Saturday race card will be available Friday. Gulfstream will offer a Watch Party in Ten Palms and souvenir glasses featuring the Belmont Jewel for $12 throughout the property.

The weekend kicks off at Gulfstream Friday with a 2:15 p.m. first-race post with Santana tribute band Smooth STB performing a free show at Sport of Kings at 7 p.m.

Belmont’s seven stakes will include the $1 million Manhattan featuring Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1) winner Bricks and Mortar, the 7-5 morning-line favorite. His nine opponents include Channel Maker, fifth in the Pegasus World Cup Turf and winner last time out of the Man ‘o War (G1).

The $1.5 million Belmont Stakes, featuring Preakness (G1) winner War of Will ridden by South Florida native Tyler Gaffalione, drew a field of 10 including Fountain of Youth (G2) runner-up Bourbon War, fourth in the Florida Derby (G1), Everfast, second in the Preakness and Holy Bull (G2), and Louisiana Derby (G2) runner-up Spinoff, who won in his debut last June at Gulfstream and was stabled this winter in South Florida for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Pletcher will also send out Marshua’s River (G3) winner Bellavais in the $700,000 Just A Game, Outshine in the $150,000 Easy Goer, and Gulfstream Park Mile (G2) and Hal’s Hope (G3) winner Prince Lucky in the $1.2 million Runhappy Metropolitan. Prince Lucky’s opponents will include Gulfstream Mile runner-up Tale of Silence and 2018 Fountain of Youth (G2) winner Promises Fulfilled.

My Charmer (G3) winner Capla Temptress will go to post in the Just A Game.
