Rainbow 6 Carryover at $1.89 Million for Saturday’s Fountain of Youth Card Undefeated Mohaymen Tops Field for Key Florida Derby Prep
Guaranteed Pools for Saturday’s Late Pick 4, Late Pick 5HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Saturday’s 13-race program at Gulfstream Park will feature eight-stakes, including the $400,000 Fountain of Youth (G2), as well as a life-changing $1,890,317.68 Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot.
The 70th running of the Fountain of Youth, a key prep for the $1 million Florida Derby (G1; April 2) and the Triple Crown carded as Race 12, is included in Saturday’s Rainbow 6 sequence (Races 8-13).
Godolphin Racing’s Mohaymen tops a field of six 3-year-olds in the 1 1/8-mile stakes, in which the Kiaran McLaughlin-trained colt is slated to seek his fifth consecutive victory. The son of Tapit, who captured the $350,000 Holy Bull (G2) at Gulfstream Jan. 30, is scheduled to face Mucho Macho Man winner Awesome Speed, unbeaten Hutcheson (G3) and Swale (G2) victor Awesome Banner and his stablemate Fellowship, as well as undefeated Zulu and Golden Ray.
A total of $403,627 was wagered Friday on the Rainbow 6, which spanned Races 6-11. Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $409.10.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Since last being hit for $76,799.38 by one lucky bettor on Jan. 13, the popular multi-race wager has gone unsolved for 33 consecutive programs. The largest payout of the current Championship Meet was $262,634.84 on Jan. 7.
In Saturday’s first race there will be a $5,034.12 carryover for the Super Hi-5.
