Rainbow 6 Carryover Stands at $3.6 Million for Saturday’s Program
Pletcher Saddles 4000th Career Winner in Friday’s Fifth Race
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 will offer bettors a life-changing opportunity at Gulfstream Park Saturday, when the popular multi-race wager will have a carryover jackpot of $3,642,038.07.
Saturday’s six-race Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 8-13, including two stakes, the $75,000 Spectacular Bid in the 11th and the $200,000 Inside Information (G3) in the 12th.
First race post time is 12:35 p.m.
There will also be a Super Hi 5 carryover in the first race of $6,967.52.
A total of $581,103 was wagered into the Rainbow 6 Friday, when there were multiple tickets sold with all six winners, each worth $17,546.64.
Since last being hit for $76,799.38 by one lucky bettor on Jan. 13, the popular multi-race wager has gone unsolved for 47 consecutive programs. The largest payout of the current Championship Meet, which opened Dec. 5, was $262,634.84 on Jan. 7.
The Rainbow 6 produced a record payoff of $6.6 million for a Palm Beach bettor on May 25, 2014. The previous record of $3,591,245.44 was solved by a New Jersey bettor on Feb. 22, 2013.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
If the Rainbow 6 continues to go unsolved, there will be a mandatory payout on March 26.
Who’s Hot: Defending 12-time Championship Meet titlist Todd Pletcher was the start of the day, saddling his 4000th career winner, Eagle Scout ($9.80) in the fifth race.
Trainer Jorge Navarro’s stable recorded a pair of victories: Town Policy ($5.40) in the first and He’s Got Talent ($21.20) in the ninth.
Jockey Luis Saez, who helped Pletcher visit the winner’s circle for 4000th time with his score aboard Eagle Scout, made it two on the day with a win aboard Glass of Wine ($5.60) in the 10th. Corey Lanerie visited the winner’s circle with Biamonte ($14.30) in the fourth race and Thoristic ($7.60) in the sixth race. Leading rider Javier Castellano also doubled aboard Sweet Butterfly ($4.60) in the seventh and Homespun Hero ($5.60) in the eighth.
