Del Mar Oaks winner Iscreamuscream has been voted Horse of the Meet by a panel of media experts. She won twice during the summer meet taking the G2 San Clemente on opening day followed by an equally impressive victory in the G1 Del Mar Oaks less than a month later.

The 3-year-old daughter of Twirling Candy, out of the Cozzene mare Silver Screamer, is owned by a partnership that includes Agave Racing Stable and Little Red Feather Racing. She’s trained by Phil D’Amato and was ridden by Hector I. Berrios.

Iscreamuscream is undefeated after four starts in her young career. She won the San Clemente by three-quarters of a length and the Oaks by a length and a half. She was also voted Top 3-Year-Old Filly in the only unanimous vote.

The voting for Horse of the Meet was a wide-open affair. Four other horses received votes. They were Gold Phoenix, Johannes, Mixto and Raging Torrent.

It was a summer of repeat performances at Del Mar and so it’s only fitting that three horses would repeat as champions of their respective divisions. The Chosen Vron, winner of the G1 Bing Crosby again this year, was named Top Sprinter. Berrios is his jockey and J. Eric Kruljac his trainer.

Adare Manor, winner of the G1 Clement Hirsch for the second year in a row, was named Top Older Filly/Mare of the meet. She is one of trainer Bob Baffert’s three champions of the meet. She was ridden by Del Mar’s leading jockey, Juan Hernandez.

Gold Phoenix repeated as the Top Grass Horse after he captured the G2 Del Mar Handicap for the third consecutive year. Kyle Frey piloted the 6-year-old Irish-bred gelding. D’Amato is his conditioner.

Mixto, the winner of the G1 FanDuel Racing Pacific Classic, won Top Older Horse of the meet. The 4-year old son of Good Magic is trained by Doug O’Neill and ridden by Kyle Frey.

Three-year-old honors go to Muth, the $2 million purchase, who won the Shared Belief on Pacific Classic Weekend. He’s trained by Baffert and was ridden by Hernandez.

The Top 2-Year Old awards went to the G1 Debutante winner Tenma and G1 Futurity winner Gaming, both Baffert trainees. Tenma was ridden by Kazushi Kimura and Gaming by Flavien Prat.
