Wesley Ward (winning trainer of favored No Nay Never)
On whether grass is No Nay Never’s forte
“No, I think he can do both. This turf course here is just so kind and forgiving. He’s a big, blocky, extremely fast horse – I thought this would be a great spot to bring him back and springboard him back into what we’re going to do. We’re going to sit down and talk with (co-owners) Dave Reid, Frank Antonacci and the boys at Coolmore and see what direction they want to go. He’s equally as good on the dirt. I just wanted to bring him back into this, see how he comes back, and more likely than not (go to) the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1).â€
Edgar Perez (rider of runner-up Mongol Bull)
"He ran very good today. It was a good break and I had good position. At the quarter pole there was a little traffic. I went outside and he finished strong."
David Moran (rider of third-place finisher Sharp Sensation)
“My horse ran very, very hard. We had a great trip. No excuses. We just couldn’t get past the winner.â€
Calvin Borel (rider of fourth-place finisher No Distinction)
Robby Albarado (rider of second choice Marchman, who finished sixth)
“I had a great trip. I anticipated a little more finish from my horse; he’s a nice horse. Take nothing from the (winner). (Marchman) just didn’t fire today. He’s a nice horse and they throw in a race like this every now and then. He just wasn’t himself today for whatever reason.â€
