ELMONT, N.Y. - New York-bred She's All Ready will look to keep her perfect record intact and punch her ticket to the Breeders' Cup when she contests the Grade 1, $400,000 Frizette on Saturday at Belmont Park.
The Frizette, run at a mile on the main track for 2-year-old fillies, is a 'Win and You're In' qualifier to the Grade 1, $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and shares the spotlight on Saturday with five other graded stakes worth a total of $3 million.
Purchased for $45,000 in May, She's All Ready has been sensational in two starts for trainer Jimmy Ryerson and owner Nirvana Stables. The daughter of Girolamo decimated a field of New York-bred maidens in her debut, leading gate to wire to score by 8 ¼ lengths as the 2-1 favorite on August 7 at Saratoga Race Course. For an encore, the chestnut filly unleashed the same front-running gambit in the Seeking the Ante Stakes on August 28 at the Spa, this time defeating fellow statebreds by three lengths.
"She's doing great," said Ryerson. "We're really happy with how she's doing coming up to the race. It's a good test for her, both in the quality of the field and the distance, but we feel like it's a good spot to try her in open company and also at a mile. [She's] very fast, very precocious, but she's got a good mind and we feel that she'll rate, so we'll find out a lot of things on Saturday."
Listed at 3-1 on the morning line, She's All Ready will break from the rail with Junior Alvarado aboard.
Nickname, who ran into the undefeated Rachel's Valentina in her debut, will try to keep the momentum going after an eye-catching second start. The Scat Daddy filly finished fourth, 6 ¾ lengths behind Rachel's Valentina, when the two met on August 2 at Saratoga, but shined away from her more heralded foe when tackling maidens again at the Spa on September 5. Breaking from post 2, the dark bay pressed a quick early tempo and drew off to win by 3 ½ lengths, good for a Beyer Speed Figure of 76.
Trained by Steve Asmussen for LNJ Foxwoods, Nickname will leave from post 5 with Javier Castellano aboard. She sits at 7-2 on the morning line.
Tabbed as the 5-2 morning-line favorite, Width will look to expand on a promising debut for trainer Christophe Clement and owners Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider. The homebred daughter of Blame broke slow in her unveiling on August 23 at Saratoga, but swept past the field around the turn and ran away to a 2 ½-length triumph. She will be ridden by Jose Ortiz from post 2.
Set to break one stall to Width's outside is Nemoralia, a European shipper with an American pedigree from the barn of trainer Jeremy Noseda, who won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile in 2004 with Wilko. Nemoralia, a daughter of More Than Ready, has run on turf and a synthetic track in four overseas starts, and is coming off a one-length tally over 18 other fillies at Doncaster in Great Britain. Owned by Terry Allan, James Lovat and Charles Pigram, she will enlist the services of Joel Rosario from post 3 and sits at 5-1 on the morning line.
Rounding out the field are Anna Rae, fourth in the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga in her latest start; Desert Tune, who broke her maiden going a mile at Belmont in her most recent outing; and Where's the D, a West Coast invader trained by Doug O'Neill.
