J Boys Echo Wins Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack
The $300,000 G3 Gotham Stakes took place Saturday, March 4 at Aqueduct Racetrack in South Ozone Park, New York. Some of the best three year olds in the land took to Aqueduct's Inner track and raced 1 1/16 miles for the winner's share of the purse and the 50-20-10-5 points awarded for the first through fourth place finishers toward the Kentucky Derby in May. Dale Romans trained 6-1 shot J Boys Echo posted the slight upset and gained the max-50 points with an impressive 3 1/2 length victory. J Boys Echo is now firmly on the Derby radar. 7-1 shot Cloud Computing finished a good second in the field of seven while overwhelming 2-5 favorite El Areeb got in for a disappointing third place finish. Action Everyday was fourth while True Timber, So Conflated, and Gaetano completed the order of finish. Apartfromthecrowd, Glennrichement, and Miggsy were scratched.
