Los Alamitos Race Course in Los Alamitos, California was the scene of the $200,000 G3 Los Alamitos Derby on Saturday, July 15 - a 1 1/8-mile dirt test for horses three years old. It was Bob Baffert trained, overwhelming 2-5 race favorite West Coast that reigned supreme as he bided his time, took over in the stretch and prevailed by 2 3/4 lengths. 7-1 second choice Klimt finished second in the field of seven with B Squared got in for third at 12-1 odds. Colonist closed from sixth to finish fourth while Cistron, Kimbear, and Term of Art completed the order of finish. Milton Freewater scratched.
