Beholder Wins Breeders' Cup Distaff at Santa Anita Park

The 2016 G1 Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff was contested Friday, November 4 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Some of the best fillies and mares three years old and upward took to Santa Anita's dirt track and raced 1 1/8 miles for a $2 million purse. It was three-time Eclipse Award winner, 3-1 third choice Beholder that upset even money favorite Songbird in a photo finish - Songbird had won her first 11 starts by a combined 60 1/2 lengths. The veteran prevailed in the end in the best race of her career. 15-1 shot Forever Unbridled rallied for third while 5-2 second choice Stellar Wind finished a disappointing fourth. I'm a Chatterbox came in fifth, followed by Curalina Land Over Sea and Corona Del Inca, to complete the order of finish.
