Tepin Wins Woodbine Mile at Woodbine Racetrack

The biggest race of the weekend - the $1 million Grade 1 Ricoh Woodbine Mile Stakes was contested Saturday, September 17 at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario. Horses three years old and upward were featured as they took to Woodbine's turf track and raced one mile. To nobody's surprise, reigning champion turf female and overwhelming 2-5 favorite Tepin won her eighth straight race overall - her second straight against the boys - by just a half-length. She earned an automatic berth into the Breeders' Cup Mile with the win. 23-1 longshot Tower of Texas made a strong bid but wound up second while 3-1 second choice Mutakayyef, invading from England got in for third. Arod finished fourth in the field of eight while Mr. Owen, Glenville Gardens and Passion for Action completed the order of finish.
