Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Hollywood Starlet comes our way from Betfair Hollywood Park this Saturday, December 6. Two year old fillies will be featured as they go 1 1/16 miles on Hollywood Park's synthetic track in search of their share of the very nice $500,000 purse.
A field of eight juvenile females will line up in the Hollywood Starlet - race 9 on Hollywood Park's Saturday schedule. Post time is 4:35 PM. Let's take a gander into the past performances of all eight combatants and what brought them to this lucrative Grade 1 race.
Executiveprivilege - Bob Baffert trained filly was undefeated in five career starts prior to a second place finish last time out in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies behind Beholder. She broke maiden with a four and a half length win in a five and a half furlong Maiden Special Weight race at Hollywood Park on June 28 and followed that result with an impressive three and a quarter length win in the Landaluce Stakes. Three straight Grade 1 stakes wins - the Grade 3 Sorrento, the Grade 1 Debutante and the Grade 1 Chandelier before the Breeders' Cup has Executiveprivilege the unquestioned favorite this Saturday.
Blonde Fog - is another Bob Baffert Filly. She has just one career start and that happened to be a very impressive 12 1/2 length win in a Maiden Special Weight race at Santa Anita October 28 at the Starlet Distance. That blow out win has Blonde Fog on the Starlet radar.
Miss Empire - This Pete Miller trained filly has eight career starts with two wins and three third place finishes. After a poor debut - a fourth in a Maiden Special Weight, she went on to win the Cinderella Stakes on June 16 by over four lengths, finish third in the Landaluce Stakes on July 14 and was a respectable third in the Grade 2 Best Pal behind Miss Heir Kitty. She went on to a fourth in the Grade 1 Debutante September 1, a third in the Grade 1 Chandelier and a win in the minor Pike Place Dancer Stakes at Golden Gate October 29. Last time out was a very disappointing ninth in the Grade 3 Miesque Stakes on this track November 24.
Midnight Ballet - has just three career starts for trainer Tom Proctor with two wins and a fifth place finish. Last time out was one of those wins - an impressive upset score in the Sharp Cat Stakes here November 11 at this distance over a number of her Hollywood Starlet combatants.
Renee's Titan - Doug O'Neill trained filly finished second most recently to Midnight Ballet in the Sharp Cat Stakes to follow another second in the Phil D. Shepherd Stakes at Fairplex Park September 14. Here graded stakes results include a sixth three back in the Grade 1 Debutante at Del Mar and a fourth before that in the Grade 3 Sorrento Stakes, also at Del Mar. She does hold a victory on this track - a Maiden score in June.
Scarlet Strike - Jerry Hollendorfer pupil most recently finished third in the Sharp Cat after a very nice second in the Grade 1 Chandelier Stakes at Santa Anita September 29 to Executiveprivilege. She has placed in all five career starts - a win, two seconds and two third place finishes.
Rhodium - Peter Miller trainee has a win and a third place finish in six career starts. Last time out was a fourth in that competitive Sharp Cat after a Maiden Special Weight score and another fourth in the Phil D. Shepherd Stakes.
Pure Fun - has seven career starts but none on synthetic surfaces for trainer Ken McPeek with two wins, a second and a third place finish. Last time out was an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Churchill Downs November 24 to follow a second in an Allowance at Keeneland. She finished seventh in the Grade 3 Jessamine in her only start against top competition.
