Las Vegas, NV - The 33rd running of the Grade 2 Super Derby goes down this Saturday September 8 from Louisiana Downs. Three year olds will race 1 1/8 miles on Louisiana Downs' main track for their share of the $500,000 purse.

A field of nine has been assembled for the Super Derby. It is race 10 on the Louisiana Downs Saturday schedule with a post time of 5:10 PM. Here is a look at the nine combatants and what brought them to this Grade 2 race.

2012 Super Derby Race Favorites

Blueskiesandrainbows - Bob Baffert colt most recently won the Grade 1 Swaps Stakes on July 4 after a very disappointing ninth in the Grade 2 American Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs on May 4. He did have a two race win streak snapped with a third place finish in an Allowance Optional Claiming race at Santa Anita February 9 and he followed that with a decent third behind I'll Have Another in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby. Joe Talamo will get the mount for the Super Derby and based on his most recent result, Blueskiesandrainbows is the morning line favorite.

Bourbon Courage - after two wins to start his career, Bourbon Courage finished a respectable fourth in his third start in the Grade 3 Derby Trial Stakes and followed that up with a fifth in the Grade 2 Woody Stephens Stakes at Belmont on June 9. Last time out was a decent second in the Grade 2 West Virginia Stakes at Belmont back in June. He had a pair of unflattering results this summer but rebounded nicely in his last start.

Rousing Sermon - was deemed a contender at the beginning of the year but has not shown the expected form so far. He had an eighth in the Kentucky Derby to follow a decent third in the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby but has struggled a tad since. He finished fourth behind Blueskiesandrainbows in the Grade 2 Swaps on July 4 and followed that up most recently with a second in the minor Real Good Deal Stakes at Del Mar August 3. He has failed to win in 2012 but has a second and two third place finishes in six starts this year.

Hero of Order - has 19 career starts with only two wins - the latest win an impressive score at the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby on April 1 at Fair Grounds. Since that time Hero of Order has struggled to a thirteenth in the Blue Grass Stakes, a fifth in an Allowance Optional Claiming, an eighth in the Arlington Classic Stakes, a decent second behind Hansen in the Grade 3 Iowa Derby and a pedestrian fifth most recently in the Grade 2 West Virginia Derby at Mountaineer August 4.

Key Donation - has only five career starts but has won three of them including his first stakes win - the Super Derby Prelude Stakes last time out here August 4. He had a brutal debut - an eleventh but has finished first or second in every race since.

Tensas Cold Front - finished second behind Key Donation in the Super Derby Prelude Stakes most recently to follow a pair of wins in his only other two career starts - all three of his career starts have come on this track.

Mr Bluegrass Music - finished third in the Prelude after an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Prairie Meadows on July 8. He has two wins and four third place finishes in seven career starts.

Master Rick - was fourth in the Prelude after a fifth in the Grade 3 Matt Winn Stakes in June and a ninth in the Grade 2 Peter Pan in May. Before that was two straight wins at Oaklawn in a Maiden Special Weight and the minor Northern Spur Stakes.

Fly Lexis Fly - is a two time Peruvian classic winner - two wins in a row coming into an American debut. In that debut he was fifth in the Grade 3 Cougar II Handicap at Del Mar on July 27.
