Las Vegas, NV - Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida will be the scene of the Grade 2 Forward Gal Stakes this Saturday, January 26. Three year old fillies will duke it out in this seven furlong dash as they pursue the winner's portion of the $200,000 purse.

A field of six ladies will line up in the Forward Gal - race 8 on Gulfstream's Saturday card. Post time is 4:05 PM. Let's take a look at the credentials of all six combatants ahead of this Grade 2 event.

2013 Forward Gal Stakes Race Favorites

Kauai Katie - Todd Pletcher trained filly has won four of five starts in her career including a pair of Grade 2 scores this summer - the Matron Stakes at Belmont Park September 30 and the Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga August 12 before that. She broke maiden by a staggering 12 lengths on July 20 and earned a 100 Beyer Speed Figure in that race and claimed another victory last time out - an impressive eight length score in the Grade 3 Old Hat Stakes here January 1. Before that result was an OK fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in November. She is a classy filly that finished second in Eclipse Award voting for two year old females and appears to be the class of the Forward Gal Stakes.

Fusaichiswonderful - the other Todd Pletcher entry has five career starts with five wins - all at Camarero Racetrack in Puerto Rico including two Grade 2 scores - the Jose Coll Vidal Stakes four back and the Clasico Dia de la Raza in October, a Grade 3 win in the Clasico Angel T. Cordero Jr November 4 and a Grade 1 score last time out by 6 3/4 lengths in the Accion de Gracias November 22. Fusaichiswonderful hasn't really been challenged yet destroying her competition but will certainly be in for a race Saturday.

My Happy Face - has four career starts - two Maiden Special Weight races to start her career with a win and a second at Saratoga. Since then she has looked great in finishing second in the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes behind Dreaming of Julia at Belmont Park October 6 and recording a win last time out in the Grade 3 Tempted Stakes at Aqueduct November 4.

Spring Venture - won her first three career starts for trainer Mark Casse including was a nice win in the Grade 3 Mazarine Stakes October 6 to follow a win in the Grade 2 Natalma Stakes September 15 and a maiden score August 18 - all at Woodbine. Last time out was a disappointing thirteenth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf for her worst career result. She tries dirt for the first time Saturday and will look to avenge her Breeders' Cup result.

Ashlee's Princess - will make her graded stakes debut Saturday after six starts yielded two wins and a second in the minor Florida Stallion My Dear Girl Stakes at Calder October 13. She also has a pair of thirds in MSW races at Calder.

Pow Wow Wow - finished second in an Allowance Optional Claiming here January 1 after an eighth in the Grade 2 Golden Rod Stakes at Churchill Downs November 24 and a pair of MSW races at Calder to start her career resulted in a win and a second place finish.
