Merit Man - was two-for-two to start his career -the Tim Conway Stakes October 6 by 5 1/2 lengths and a maiden score in his debut at Del Mar in September. Since then he has been equally as good - a nice second by just a nose in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint as favorite to Hightale two back was followed by yet another win in the $100,000 Spectacular Bid Stakes at Gulfstream January 1. Merit Man is a nose way from being perfect in his career and is the horse to beat Saturday.

Since then he has stumbled a tad - a fourth two back in the Grade 1 Dixiana Breeders' Futurity was followed by a fifth last time out in the Grade 3 Iroquois at Churchill Downs October 28.
