Palm Beach Stakes at Gulfstream Park
Las Vegas, NV - Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida will play host to the only graded stakes race in America on Sunday, March 3, 2013 - the Grade 3 Palm Beach Stakes. Three year olds will be featured as they race 1 1/8 miles on Gulfstream's turf track in search of their share of the $150,000 purse.

2013 Palm Beach Stakes Race Favorites
Charming Kitten - Todd Pletcher colt is coming off a nice win in the minor Kitten's Joy Stakes here January 20 after a decent second in the Dania Beach also on this track December 15. He finished an ugly ninth in the Dixiana Breeders' Futurity three back after a third in the Grade 2 With Anticipation Stakes in August and a maiden win in his debut at this distance at Saratoga July 28. John Velazquez will ride the morning line favorite - he enters the Palm Beach in good form against just an average field this week.
Dewey Square - Eclipse Award winning trainer Dale Romans sends out Dewey Square who won a MSW and an Allowance Optional Claiming race to start his career and was third two back in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes at Churchill Downs November 24 behind Uncaptured and Frac Daddy. Last time out was a disappointing seventh in the Grade 3 Holy Bull on this track January 26 for his worst career result. Dewey Square is still considered a top Romans prospect and will be out to prove it Sunday. Javier Castellano gets the mount.

Rydilluc - comes into the Palm Beach having won two of three career starts - the last coming last time out in an Allowance Optional Claiming here January 5 by 5 3/4 lengths after breaking maiden on turf November 25.
Summit County - another Dale Romans trained colt has nine career starts with two wins, a second and two third place finishes. Last time out was a sixth in the minor Kitten's Joy Stakes behind Charming Kitten here January 20 after an Allowance Optional Claiming score on this track December 19. He was a distant twelfth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf after setting the pace and tiring and he had a fifth in another graded stakes race - the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland in October. He is fairly experienced but has looked just so-so lately.
Holiday Star - H. Graham Motion trainee enters the Palm Beach on a two race win streak - an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track last time out January 26 and a MSW score at Tampa Bay December 14. Prior to that was a seventh and a third in a pair of MSW races at Keeneland to start his career.

Quinzieme Monarque - Thomas Albertini colt has four fourth place finishes in five career starts including in his stakes debut two back at the Grade 3 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park November 8 and last time out in the Grade 2 Remsen at Aqueduct November 24. His other career result was a Maiden Special Weight score three back at Belmont Park. He has entered some big races with OK results.
Saturday Special - has seven career starts for trainer Jose Pinchin with two wins, a second and a third place finish. Last time out was a fourth in the minor Kitten's Joy Stakes here January 20 after a second and a first in two Allowance races respectively. He has yet to place in three career stakes races - Sunday marks his graded stakes debut.
Reporting Star - won his career debut but finished off the board in the two minor stakes races that followed - a fourth in the Arthur Appleton Juvenile Turf at Calder in November and a fifth in the Dania Beach Stakes here December 15. Last time out was a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track February 9.
Amen Kitten - Wesley Ward gelding has seven career starts with a win, two seconds and a third place finish. Last time out was a Maiden Claiming score on this track January 11 after six MSW races in 2012 produced two seconds and a third place finish.
Squall King - Dale Romans trainee is coming off a third in an Allowance Optional Claiming on this track after a sixth in the Dania Beach Stakes December 15 and a MSW score at Churchill Downs in November. His other two career results were a fifth and a sixth in a pair of MSW races in the fall.
Dad'z Laugh - finished tenth four back in his only stakes appearance and went on to a third in a Starter Optional Claiming and a pair of similar races on this track including last time out February 21.
