2013 Sabin Stakes Race Favorites

Royal Delta - has looked exceptional of late - two straight wins including the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap and the Grade 2 Fleur de Lis Handicap on June 16 at Churchill Downs were followed by a respectable second in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign Handicap at Saratoga on August 26. She followed that with another two race win streak - last time out in a repeat win in the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic and a win in the Grade 1 Beldame at Belmont Park September 29. She finished second in last year's edition of this race and enters in the best form of any horse on the planet at the moment. Bill Mott trained Royal Delta has won four of her last five starts and is unquestionably the one to beat - does anybody really wants any part of Royal Delta Sunday? It's off to Dubai for the $10 million Dubai World Cup for Royal Delta and the Sabin is her tune-up.

Grace Hall - Grace Hall has won two of her last four starts - the Grade 2 Indiana Oaks two back and the Grade 2 Delaware Oaks four back with an uncharacteristic fifth in the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes in between. Last time out was an OK fourth in the competitive Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic behind Royal Delta among others. She has six wins, two seconds and a third place finish in 11 career starts - the only off the board finishes coming in her last four starts however. Grace Hall is mighty brace to go against Royal Delta and may be the only realistic shot at the upset.

Sabin Stakes 2013 | Remaining Field Entries

My Pal Chrisy - has placed in her last six starts overall. Her last two races resulted in third place finishes at Gulfstream - last time out in the Sunshine Millions Distaff Stakes January 19 and the Ocala Stakes December 30. My Pal Chrisy had a nice win in the Elmer Heubeck Distaff in November at Calder so she knows how to win. She has 33 starts in her career for trainer Padarath Lutchman with eight wins, four seconds and five third place finishes but enters the Sabin in decent form.

All for Thee - Chris Block trained mare is coming off an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Gulfstream January 12 after failing to place in her previous five starts dating back to July 2011 when she had a third in the Grade 2 Delaware Oaks. She has four wins in 11 career starts but enters the Sabin with a little confidence after a win last time out.

One Last Dance - Dale Romans pupil has not placed since an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Aqueduct February 9, 2012 - a string of five straight races. Her last two starts were fourth place finishes in Allowance Optional Claiming races including last time out here January 12. She is the long shot in the race and will be in deep against some pretty tough competition.
