2013 Marjorie L. Everett Handicap Race Favorites

Lady of Fifty - Jerry Hollendorfer filly has six wins and four third place finishes in 13 career starts and is coming off an OK third in the Grade 2 Santa Maria Stakes January 16 after a disappointing fourth as favorite in the Grade 2 La Canada Stakes January 20, a relatively easy win in the competitive Grade 2 Bayakoa at Hollywood Park by 3 1/4 lengths December 8 and a win in the minor Palm Springs Handicap at Santa Anita November 1. She looked great in the winter and will be looking for that form again Saturday.

Sister Kate - another Jerry Hollendorfer trainee makes her first graded stakes start but enters on a two race win streak. Last time out was a nice win in the minor Santa Lucia Stakes at Santa Anita April 14 after an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Golden Gate February 23. She has five wins, two seconds and four third place finishes in 14 career starts but steps up big time on Saturday. She was third behind Warren's Jitterbug and Going for a Spin in the 2012 B. Thoughtful Stakes in her only previous start at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Lady Aspen - Jerry Hollendorfer trained mare had two Allowance Optional Claiming scores at Golden Gate to start her 2013 campaign and followed that with a fourth in an Allowance and a decent second last time out in the minor Golden Poppy Stakes at Golden Gate April 7. Saturday marks her graded stakes debut after 20 career starts yielded five wins, four seconds and three third place finishes.

I Dazzle - John Sadler pupil started 2013 with a fourth in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Santa Anita and has rattled off two straight wins ahead of the Marjorie L. Everett - an Allowance February 23 and the minor American Beauty Stakes April 7 in her turf debut. Her graded stakes results include a fourth in the Grade 2 Goldikova in November and a fifth in the Grade 3 Robert J Frankel Stakes in December. She had been just OK in the past but two wins ahead of this weekend has opened a few eyes. I Dazzle will be making her synthetic debut Saturday.

More Chocolate - John Sadler trained More Chocolate made her stakes debut and finished a very pleasant third in the Grade 3 Robert J. Frankel Stakes December 30 after six career starts produced two wins and a second place finish for trainer John Sadler. She a very nice win in the Grade 2 La Canada Stakes by two lengths over the talented Book Review January 20 and followed that with another good result - a second in the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes March 16. Last time out was a tepid fifth in the Grade 2 La Troienne Stakes at Churchill Downs May 3. More Chocolate now has three wins, two seconds and a third place finish in 10 career starts. She has yet to compete over Cushion Track.

Open Water - She was an impressive second in her turf debut in the Grade 2 San Clemente at Del Mar on July 22 and a game third in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks on August 18. Before a fifth in the Grade 3 Autumn Miss and another fifth in the Grade 1 Garden City Stakes at Belmont September 15, she ended 2012 with a very good second in the Grade 2 Bayakoa behind Lady of Fifty at Hollywood Park December 8. She was sixth in her only start of 2013 - the Grade 2 La Canada Stakes at Santa Anita January 20.

Maker Or Breaker - Bob Baffert trained filly has just five career starts with three wins and a second place finish. Her only stakes action came last time out and resulted in her only off the beard finish - a fourth as the 7-10 favorite in the minor Santa Lucia Stakes at Santa Anita April 14. She races at Betfair Hollywood Park for the first time in the Marjorie Everett.
